It comes as no suprise because his preformances this year have taken and major dip. It has some similarities with counthinio -thinks he too big for spurs but his preformance in champs league final, i wouldn't expect barca or real to be banging the door down for him.

It does feel like a sign of how far we've come as a club. Even down to the fact he's leaving the door open. It's new ground and I like it.
Yeah I got that he wasn't necessarily saying that he wanted to go at all costs. Clearly, he wants to win things, but I only really see one or two possible destinations for him and one of them being Madrid and that isn't a given as they seem to have options elsewhere right now.

Kane, Dier, Alli, Dembele, Lloris, Toby, Jan, Eriksen and a few others; these were the main characters in the story of the last 5 years.

But like every big team who have built dynasties, you need some new characters for the next volume in the saga.

So thanks Eriksen for all the hard work, great goals and fantastic memories. You're one of the reasons we are where we are today.

Good luck wherever you end up (y)

Totally agree. We want full commitment from everyone, especially our most influential players.

Served us well bur best for everyone now.

Absolutely. Due to the lack of certain attributes in our squad, when he wasn't playing our football suffered massively and without trying to discredit him in any way, his lack of form in the second half of the season was probably one thing that really hurt the whole teams form, just due to our over-reliance on him. Could very well turn out to be much more beneficial to get a good fee for him and put that towards really trying to upgrade the squad and make us the best we've been.

I love the guy, but it's clear this has been happening for a while. To be fair to him, I think he's handled this really well too. There's nothing disrespectful or petulant about what he's said, it's just a parting of the ways. It happens. And also, I think he's made it pretty clear throughout his whole career that he never wanted to stay in one place for his whole career. He always talked about having a plan for himself, and sometimes you just have to respect that, as long as the player goes about it the right way.

In Eriksen's case, he has done that both on and off the pitch. For me he's consistently been our second best player behind Kane for the duration of Poch's tenure and he seems to be a really popular guy in the dressing room. He's handled himself with nothing less than absolute class the entire time he's been here. The only massive disappointment is that one of our finest players of the modern era won't have a trophy to his name from his time here.

For us now, we have to not only replace him adequately, but continue to make the team stronger without him, which will be difficult to do considering how often Poch has spoken about him being one of our most important players. We might have to find a different way to play.

As for the Madrid thing, I genuinely think people are underestimating the scope of their rebuilding project this transfer window. I reckon their spend will be in the hundreds of millions of Euros, and will include 5 or 6 new guys. From everything I've seen from Zidane, there's will be a complete overhaul. If they want him, they'll find the money for him, even if they have already got Hazard, Jovic, even Pogba etc.

I think the person who will benefit the most from this is Dele Alli.

Dele is at his absolute playing as Kane's second striker in the no.10 position. The link up Dele and Kane had a few seasons ago was incredible, and if we can find that link again, we'll be laughing.

From what I'm reading, it's either Real Madrid or he signs a new contract with us.
To be fair to him, he has pretty openly admitted this before. It's also been alluded to by ITK.

I'm not really sure that Real has their sights set on him. I'd expect them to go for a more marketable player, like Pogba, who Zidane apparently loves. If he isn't sold near the end of the window, I'd expect him to sign a new contract.

Think you might get a few on here disagreeing with that.

Yes, he's been very respectful in the media, which he certainly should be credited for, but his performances this year have been sub-par.

Compare that to Toby who seemed to have had a genuine 'bust-up' with Poch and Levy, yet his performances have been A-1 in the main.

Anyway, just my onions and I still wish Eriksen well (see my post above).

Would not mind losing Eriksen, as long as we get a reasonable deal in return. Would love if Bale/Isco were offered to us along with an additional fee.

Even though Eriksen came out and said it I think we all knew he wanted/was on the move out. Dunno where too but we all knew it was going to happen. Hopefully we get someone in to replace him with just as much quality but it’s not like this wasn’t expected

Good luck to him.

In my opinion, we should use the money and do what Liverpool did with Coutinho. Eriksen is only one player, and for all of his late goals this season, IMO his general play and impact over the season was quite poor.

It's time for a revolution with this team. Eriksen for all his quality rarely stepped it up for us in the biggest games. CL final in point. He was one of the worst players on the pitch.

yes, he is one of our technically most talented players, but he isn't irreplaceable. Time for Poch to change our style of play a bit.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Eriksen flatter to decieve at Madrid, like Coutinho did at Barca.

I just don't think Eriksen is the truly elite level player, too inconsistent. Madrid fans will turn on him if he plays for them like he did for us this season.

This isn't me being bitter. No ill will from me, but I was very frustrated with his performances this season, I'd be saying the same if he stays. He needs competition for places.

I don't see him signing a new contract. He either wants a new challenge or he doesn't. If the worst comes to the worst for him I'm sure Juve will take him on a free next season.

He does leave the door open that he will sign a new contract. He says that if he does go it will be up. But his desire is to leave and he just wants it sorted quickly.
