150k is by no means unreasonable, he would get that at any of the big clubs.
I dont know why this is a wtf post, in a world where payet who is 29 is getting a 4 year contract for that wage, its not unreasonable to think bigger clubs would offer similar amounts

Apparently sterling is on around £180k a week
This is not a Spurs problem though. Arsenal are going through difficult negotiations with Ozil and Sanchez right now also. Its all part of the dance - finding the right deal.
I think thats because Ozil and Sanchez intend to jump ship in the not too distance future

if true (which I doubt) - let's make him a v good offer that is line with the rest of the structure and keep it on the table.
Then he can accept or play out the final two years at 32 k per week

Haha. 150/week? Did we win the league? Let him go. Such a selfish wage. Pure ego. Life goes on without him. Do your stuff Daniel.
You would want to make sure that the claims made by this outlet are facts before having a go at Christian and saying he has an ego or that he's selfish.

Worries me that we need to negotiate with him this season with Lamela and tie them down to new contracts.

I can't believe we have not tried renegotiating with him if he is on 32k - we must have attempted as we have with Harry, Dele and Dier.

Be careful what you wish for. If Eriksen goes then others who want new contracts could follow as they know they can get more more elsewhere. As somebody has already mentioned West Ham and Palace and other Premier clubs are offering better wages than us. If we don't pay the going rate then we can't expect to attract top players.
Poch has already said that he has been given a directive by Levy to bring on the youngsters as there will be no big signings. That's the reason that Mitchell is leaving because he is frustrated by the lack of signings and that really there is not a job for him.
I accept that we can't compete with the top 3 or 4 clubs financially but there has to be a happy medium or players like Kane, Ali, Eriksen, Adi etc could be gone within a year and then we are back to the old days.
This is a very important season, no top 4 and an early exit from the CL then next season we could have a very different looking side.

I don't believe the figure at all however if, as seems to be the case, we are now paying Harry Kane £100,000 a week he is bound to want something like that.
I would.

This is a problem we are going to face more and more. The players and their agents know the TV money deal. I know we have a stadium to pay for but we're going to have to be competitive with top 6 Prem clubs soon wages wise or players are going to move on. Personally I'd like to see more consistency from Christian to demand those kind of wages though. We know how good he can be but he blows a bit hot and cold across the season for me.

The team don't need to break their pay structure but I suspect we already have had to raise the limits. This is possible with increased performance levels and the increased revenues possible under new TV rights plus the increased revenue when we enter the new stadium. It makes sense to spend money now on keeping key young players rather than on inflated transfer fees.

I have to assume this is the strategy but suspect there might be one or two players who will be tempted away. Hopefully though we can sort this out ... ultimately though we have shown that no player is bigger than the team (Bale, Modric to name but two)

is he? or is that YOU who is frustrated by the "lack of signings"?
we have filled the holes in our squad and we have a long list of talented youngsters.

regarding eriksen, he deserves a pay rise but not something like 150k/w

I think this is more of the agent trying to get as much for his client as possible. Knowing Levy... He most likely offered a £80k per week deal for 5 years. Which the agent might want to turn down, since a longer contract might deter others bigger names form signing him and giving him a nice big pay day. So instead of telling the press. We turned down a deal, he agent puts it as we demand more.

Still, it's not a big rush, maybe a one year extension in January or something. Nothing to stress about, we lost key members before, that's life without a sugar daddy.

This article printed back in June springs to mind :-

http://www.football-italia.net/86332/eriksen-agent-brexit-warning

Yesterday the ‘Leave’ campaign won the referendum to take Great Britain out of the EU and with it the freedom of movement and trade that has transformed the world of European football.

“We are underestimating the danger,” agent Martin Schoots [Eriksen's agent] told La Repubblica.

“The truth is that half the Premier League players will see their work permits turned into scrap paper.

In a situation like this, I’d take my client away from Tottenham.”

________________________________

This entire issue, in my honest opinion, is 100% agent driven. I would like to know Eriksen's own feelings on this situation. I feel it may be different from his agent. If it does come to light that he actually does value money over everything else..Levy has a real problem on his hands.

It's worth remembering that the sports media ( toy town I believe it's called in the industry ) is full of fans of certain clubs, or "journos" paid well to report positive things about certain sides ( cough 'West Ham' )

I sometimes think that these same journos try their hardest to create a drama where there isn't one. We have the most settled squad in the division, finished 3rd last time out and have a top manager. We've had no pre-season crisis and are going in to the season with plenty of positivity surrounding the club. Some people don't like this

I agree it's his agent and that's why it's all in the papers. He seems determined for it to be played out in public.

I want to know whether it was the same when he left Ajax as we only got him so cheap as he was running down his contract there.

It is strange that the club haven't sorted out new contracts for him, lloris, Vertonghen and lamela this summer. Poch doesn't seem the sort of manager who wants these things done during the season. Then again, he was happy to do it with his own contract so who knows.

In a year or 2 I would expect us to be playing Kane and the like around £150k a week to be fair

I don't think it's a ridiculous (well, it is in real life) amount to ask compared to what players at other clubs are getting really but he won't be getting that with us now.

Out of the players still to sign new contracts with us he's the most likely to leave based on previous comments about his career. I've no doubt he sees us as a stepping stone to a massive club. I'm ok with that because it's where we are in the scheme of things and we have to be realistic.

I think that, like last season it may work in our favour.

It's perfect IMO - whilst Sky, BT Sport and the BBC have a mutual wankfest of Pep, Jose, Conte and Jurgen, we slip under the radar and keep adapting, growing and improving. 4 trophies we chased and chased decently last term and came close-ish in 3, tough for any team especially one so young. I think we will improve this season whilst the others will wilt from expectation.

I think only two of the above 4 will reasonably in with a challenge (probably the two Manc clubs) with us, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool all in there with a chance to win it if we have a good season.

We did not chase four trophies last season. We did not come close ish in three. Just one.

I agree the wankfest allows us under the radar, but in the same way I resent the disrespect the media and other fans continue to show to last seasons champions.

Hopefully the Eriksen and Lamela contract situations will be resolved shortly, .
