It's funny how underappreciated he is.

On the Spurs Show this week, the three of them sat round agreeing with each other that Eriksen was a player we needed to upgrade because he isn't creative enough.

I genuinely have to question whether these people actually watch us play...

I don't think any of them suggested we needed to "upgrade" on him, I think it was more suggesting that there are aspects of his game that still tend to annoy us as fans. Namely his set-piece delivery.

Russ Williams was spot on saying we need to sign a player who can "pick the lock" in the tight games. Could have been the difference between 1 point and 3 in some of the draws we've played out this season.

I honestly don't think that's it, we create enough chances in matches especially with playing 3 at the back, what we've been missing is the composure when we get into good positions.

I wouldn't say we need a lock pifker as such, maybe if we are playing 4-2-3-1 but then again Eriksen is capable of picking locks, we are in need of quick thinkers more than lock pickers.

He keeps things ticking over which is crucial but that seems underrated by some or rather not recognised. For example the way he supports the likes of walker or rose when they cut inside at times. That's all on purpose.

I think I'm better but Erikssen I do enjoy watching,

Criminally underrated by so many, especially when you consider how so many are besotted by Lamela and if you consider the relative outputs for both its an absolute non-contest.

Still young and already one of the best attacking midfielders in the league, in the 3-4-2-1 we have found the perfect area for him to not only be our playmaker but also our main source of chances created.

Don't get me wrong, I really like Lamela but he's defended by people saying things like "he tries low percentage balls" and "he's tenacious and runs a lot". Eriksen does both these things and both at a level that is the best in the league!

He may at times be considered a bit of a pussy but that's not his game. His goals and assists stats are excellent and whilst his corners at time can be frustrating and his drought of goals from free kicks is slightly annoying, there aren't many id swap him for.

If he was called Cristiano Erikdinho people would be raving about him. I still don't see the media wankfest over Coutinho and he's being linked with Barcelona and the like. Long may it continue that Eriksen flies under the radar and he stays for a long time

Oh wow.. Saw so many ex-Spurs in the beginning of the video, haha..

Not a lot of fanfare surprisingly, but if we look back at the goals he scored, most were worldies I thought.. Unbelievable..

He pissed me off in the beginning of the season, but as his form gains back, there is no way a game he should not be playing.. He is so important to us right now that if he is on top at any of his game, we can really beat anyone IMO..

No I'll think you'll find its a case of people having to defend lamela because he's generally lambasted rather than not rating Eriksen as highly

So...uhhh...this is awkward for Eriksen-detractors, but it seems to me that Eriksen had no problem getting stuck-in for our second goal

Beautiful ball to Dele too for it btw

Agreed. And not only did he get stuck in, but he also read that play perfectly to put himself into position to make the tackle.

He's been important to us for a while, but he really seems to be finding his stride now. Such a quality, classy player.

So what's a lock picker then?

Name me a player that's not Messi, Neymar, etc. That's a "lockpicker" better than Eriksen.

For all the chances he creates, and assists, and scores I would argue Eriksen is picking locks better than most.

He was criminally bad until the game at Stamford bridge in December... since then he has been consistently good and key to our play. Poch needs to find a way to get him to play like this through the season to get him to the next level.
