But that has nothing to do with Eriksen having 4 or 1 year left on his contract. He has never been a player that gets stuck in and wins tackles. It’s stupid to say that he suddenly has stopped getting stuck in when he has never been that kind of player.

I didn't.

So when is this deadline that we have apparently given him or his agent to sign a contract by? Or at least let us know his intentions by? And would it really matter if it was a week until deadline or two? If only Madrid are the team who Eriksen is interested in and they know this they were always going to low ball us and wait to leave us high and dry..... Them pulling the plug on Bales transfer and also given the fact they have spent 400m already surely gives us a clue that they arent getting Pogba now. We potentially have absolutely buggered ourselves even if we buy LoCelso and lose Eriksen we have weakened ourselves as LoCelso will need time to adapt to the prem.

Yeah, I don’t see why he wouldn’t do this. If he signed a new contract with a clause that states if Madrid come in with a bid over 80 million we sell, the player still gets his move and we still get compensated.

The problem is, does Levy proactively sign Eriksen replacement with the risk that Madrid may not come in for him, or does he play it safe and sell Eriksen and leaving us weaker as we will he unable to sign a replacement in time, which would be totally unacceptable for us fans POV

Well I do not see any reason at all why he would do this, talk about biting your nose off to spite your face.
He is much more likely to get his move to Real Madrid if it is for free, than if they have to pay us 80m.
He should have no sentiment towards us, if we didn't want him we would have shipped him out, without batting an eyelid, and made his life very difficult to try to force it on him, like we have done with other players on numerous occasions.
We can't have it both ways, unfortunately we have played this one very poorly.

Well you kinda did. Someone asked what has given you the impression that Eriksen wouldn’t give his all. And you quoted him and implied the 50/50 tackles being the reason.

Like he literally asked for reasons. If your post isn’t meant as an answer to his question, then maybe not quote him...

What could possibly work is a loan swap with Juve for Dybala. IMO Eriksen won't sign a new deal and will go for free next year. That would leave a sour dressing room and maybe he'd be better off out of the picture. If we could get Dybala with an option to buy we'd keep hold of a chunk of money this year which could enable us to complete our other targets. Of course, it would depend massively on players willingness and the clubs also, but Eriksen might fancy a year in Turin since he doesn't seem very enthused about staying here. I'd prefer him to stay though since it would mean some huge changes at the heart of the team.

How do we do that if he refuses to sign and refuses a transfer. IMO he will run the contract down, same as Toby.

I'm only speculating of course, but i suppose you could sign GLC and then tell Eriksen that he will spend his last year as a sub at best ? Not guaranteed to work but given the stage in his career (and him being a player who always plays) i would think he'd find constantly not playing difficult, which might make him inclined to leave rather than run down the final year (i doubt you could take that stance and have him sign afterwards !).

Personally i think things will be much clearer on several transfers in the next 3-4 days, with the fact Spurs meet Real tomorrow being the perfect scenario for all parties (player included) to gauge just where things stand.

Sounds like a very sensible solution to me as a fan, so absolutely no chance it happening as nothing plausible or straight forward ever seems to happen with transfers these days.

Nobody asked me anything. I wasn't answering a question. I was merely making an observation.

Considering we play Real Madrid tomorrow, we will probably get a media update to Eriksen's situation.

I would hope that moving forward we start a policy of selling players who have 2 years or less on their deals - being 1 year gives us no leverage and we simply can't let these multi-million pound assets go for free, we aren't that rich to replace. Would suck to be forced to sell a big player when we don't absolutely have to, but can you imagine if those with time on their side such as Dele or even Kane are looking at this thinking big bumper payday and pick of my clubs. Whereas we could probably fetch £100m for Dele, £175m for Kane if they still have 2 years left. I know it seems extreme, but it's been mentioned multiple times we will probably see this behaviour more and more over the coming years

It definitely has to be a consideration going forward. Everyone seems happy that Eriksen is supposedly staying - but without a new contract it really isn't a great long-term result for the club.

Then why would you quote someone who was asking a question, if your post isn’t an answer to the question you quoted. Of course i’m going to assume that your post is an answer to the quote...

That’s kinda how quoting works...

We should give Eriksen 90 mins tomorrow If he is not going to be signing a new deal to have an audition against our opposition who seem to be the only team he wants to join.....

We could offer Eriksen a bumper signing on fee to any new deal, say £10m - that might get him thinking twice about Real. As for the club, it’s either £10m to Eriksen or £50m for a replacement.

It’s not about money for Eriksen. He is not going to change his mind over money...

James Rodriguez set to stay at Real. Not sure if that will have a bearing on their pursuit of Eriksen

Oh no the last time he meant to leave an impression....
Maybe better for him to have a bit of enigma about him..it has more value
