Bingo. Scandinavians are very reserved people. I know from experience.
I'm sorry but that is nonsense stereotyping. How can you possibly generalize not just a country but a whole region worth of people? Is Zlatan a reserved character? Eriksen is his own man and has his own personal characteristics

Ok, right, maybe that was too stereotyping. I apologize, no offense meant to anyone.

I was just going by experience having been to multiple Scandinavian countries and interacting with people there ... that they are more private/quiet (in a good way) than other people I've met.

But I may be wrong. Though point still stands. Eriksen is quiet and reserved. And as for Zlatan lol ... well he's a rarity. Zlatan is Zlatan.

Yes, over the past few months, you can see signs of Eriksen wanting to leave ... but him having his HEAD TURNED and not acting interested - and that all of the SUDDEN, especially on basis of yesterday's game ... is utter bullshit.

Eriksen's head has been the same as it was at the beginning of preseason ... i.e. he is down to leave us, if the right offer comes in, but wouldn't feel bad if it doesn't (which means staying). He's acted very professional and normal during this whole situation.

I've also been getting a little annoyed at people who think they can read Eriksen's thoughts based on how hard he throws himself into tackles, as if that's a fair barometer for the feelings of a guy who's always had a reserved personality. And with respect to the ITK that says his head is turned: I think there's a difference between wanting a new experience and keeping your options open to facilitate that, and having your head turned to the degree that you can no longer perform for the club.

My first preference would be for Eriksen to stay, but if he can get a deal that he finds appealing and we can sort out a backup, then fair enough. But I don't think we should rush to sell him based on perceived bad body language. Though it wouldn't be ideal, I think it would be better for the club to keep him for another year and lose him on a free than to sell him and leave one of Lo Celso/Fernandes to play 50+ games for us in their first season. Because if we sign one of them for big money, and their performances start falling off at some point, then I suspect we'd see a lot of the same faces questioning their heart and desire as well.

I still maintain that he will be sorely missed if he leaves. He offers us something which I don't think we will be able to replace. I was really happy to see him come on against Utd and the lack of news of bids in for him.

I agree. But i am open to him leaving if Lo Celso and Fernandes do come him. Eriksen is a wonderful player but i think the opportunity to have 3 new people in an around the team could do wonders, really freshen it up. Then the question is whether Eriksen is expendable (and i am leaning towards yes), or is are there other ways to freshen up the squad without losing christian.

Just think that maybe it is a good time for him to go, but if he stays (which now seems 50/50) we still got an outstanding player.

Zlatan is, for the most part, a Bosnian from a Bosnian community. Swedish born, but he grew up in a very different cultural circumstance than what a Swede would normally have. I think the circumstances of his upbringing have had a big impact on his personality.

His book and interviews explain it better than I feel like I'm doing

All players are replaceable, not that I'm saying I want him to go. Looks like he's stuck being second choice to Pogba as far as Real is concerned. Maybe things will start to move on Monday if Maguire signs for United.

There's still the problem wether Eriksen will agree to sign for any other club than RM and Barca. Everything so far has pointed to him having a very clear destination in mind, even been rumours of his entourage flat out dismissing United when they made an enquiry.

It will be interesting to see where this goes as Eriksen himself holds all the cards. Yes in theory Levy could threaten with freezing him out but you can just look at the Toby situation and he's still very much apart of the first 11.
It's a weird situation. If Eriksen doesn't sign a new deal but also can't find a buyer we've not only lost £50+ million but we can't properly replace him for another year as we'd be mad to drop a player of his quality. Having a player like Eriksen in your squad for a year is never a bad thing yet that one year would essentially cost us the same as buying his replacement.

This is why I think Levy will be hellbent on selling him this window. But to who? Real aren't being linked anymore and I can't see where he'd fit in at Juve who seem to need to sell to buy. Beyond that, why would he sign for a team like PSG or Man Utd when he can just wait a year and get picked up by one of his dream clubs for a huge signing on fee?

The more I think about it, the more I think we'll be "stuck" with him unless Levy pulls off some magic over the coming week.

Listen, we can all speculate about Eriksen’s motivation and judge his body language and penalties. Or we can just take him at his word, 4 days after the biggest day in Spurs history of my lifetime:

“I feel that I am at a stage of my career where I would like to try something new. I have the deepest respect for everything that is happening at Tottenham and it would not be something negative to stay. But I have also said that I would like to try something new.

Real Madrid is a step up but then it would take Real Madrid picking up the phone and making contact with Tottenham and say that they want Christian. It depends on the possibilities. If there are no exciting offers why shouldn’t I stay at Tottenham? If I then sign a new contract depends on the conditions.”

He told us that he would leave for Real Madrid. I don’t understand how people are still confused about this.

I'm wondering if our interest in Fernandez is also a message to Eriksen that if he stays without signing a contract he'll be yesterdays man and could find himself on the bench for most of the time. It's not a very appetizing thought but I doubt Poch or Levy will pull many punches if they feel we are being held to ransom.

If he doesn't want to be here then we should let him go, he would do more damage than good

or we bring BF and GLC in leave Eriksen out of the squad... we can’t pick him when his ‘heart isn’t in it’.

I agree, others are a lot closer to this than me, sounds like he is sulking cuz the Spanish clubs dont rate him as much as he rates himself

I think he'll go for a knockdown price.

2 weeks ago or so, Eriksen contract was agreed to sign and both GLC and Sess were done. It’s been only shitty news from then on.

There is no ITK info or other "gossip" in the papers about any club coming in for CE. If RM or barca wanted to sign him i think we would se much more in the press.
Its funny how everthing around him is over-analyzed on this board.

I can't accept a big club in Europe won't be monitoring his situation.

It's really bizarre, we got him cheap cause no other club wanted to take a punt and now he's essentially available again no-one is showing serious interest.

What about Bayern? Couldn't they do with a creator?
