He just needs to be capable back up and IMO he’s proven he can be. It would also be a very very cheap deal to do and we need all the funds we can to get in a proper LCB and AM this window.

Exactly. He was perfectly fine last season. Nothing spectacular but he is steady enough. By all accounts he is good character to have in the squad as well. Happy if we sign him as back up.

Not sure how reliable SPORT are but they’re running a story on their back page tomorrow claiming Tottenham and Barcelona have reached an agreement in principle for the permanent transfer of Clement Lenglet.

I’d be happy to bring him back as the backup LCB along with a better starter.
Nah, we have enough problems shifting players, so I only want us to sign players who fit the system, not players who could do a job as back up and Lenglet is too slow IMO.

I'm fine with Lenglet, provided he comes for a low fee, agrees to lower his wages and is not intended as the primary lcb signing

He’s not as slow as is being made out. Vertonghen was fine playing in high line he wasn’t that much faster than Lenglet.

I really hope we don't sign him. I don't care if we can get him cheap, he's not good enough and will be another player we are trying to shift in a year or two. I love our CB targets as it shows we have a clear plan and they will compliment Romero and Ange's style of play. But Lenglet just isn't good enough. I think we will sign someone like Tapsoba (decent outlay) and then maybe someone like Tosin Adarabioyo (wouldn't cost an awful lot). Obviously that depends on who we can shift, but if we can get rid of some of Rodon, Sanchez, Tanganga or Dier, then we would definitely look to bring a couple in. I wouldn't even mind Dier staying as the 4th CB option, but it seems risky keeping him when his contract expires next summer. Only CB we need to keep is Romero, honestly have no preference in which order the others leave.

I'd sooner keep Lenglet than Dier. Dier has all of Lenglet's defensive weaknesses but at least Lenglet can hit a pass and he's calm on the ball. Really want Tapsoba though.

Well OKeefe seems to think it will be two more and did say potentially 2 and also Lenglet if it was a really cheap deal.

He was our 2nd best centre back but still isn't good enough so it's a tricky situation. He is going for cheap, is left footed but will be on high wages

I think we need a complete reset at CB so rather he didn't sign

We need to get Tapsobia, Van De Ven and Tosin and sell Dier Sanchez and one of Rodon and Tanganga

Whoever stays out of Rodon and Tanganga will be a decent 5th choice

For a season with no Europe, four senior centre backs seems sensible with the likes of Dorrington backing up and Davies as emergency centre back option. If it is just the four you want them to all have the quality and characteristics that Ange would like and whikst I think Clement is a good player I think we should be aiming for better.

Tapsoba, Tosin, VDV and Romero would be great but there's no way we get that done any time soon imo. Tapsoba we could probably do but we need a backup on the left. It's between Lenglet and Davies who both have limitations, but I think Lenglet is better. If he plays we'd have to adapt and not push up too high. If getting Lenglet in cheap and moving out a couple too means we get Tapsoba, I can live with that.

Likes Erik Lamela, deal with it.

I don't really see the benefit in signing him to be honest unless we are able to get rid of Sanchez, Dier, Davies and Rodon. If we can get a proper clear out then Lenglet as our back-up LCB is fine if we get him very cheap I guess.
