I actually think it's probably closer than you think. Ben White's a good player who's proven in the Prem

Yeah, he's decent but being 'prem proven' is so overrated these days IMO.

Winks and Dier would be classed as prem proven haha

?#Romero(#Atalanta ), each hour closer to #Tottenham . The Spurs' first choice was #Koundé , but the French did not want to leave.

Despite Jules' permanence, the defender #DavinsonSanchez it is still Monchi's target. Contacts between clubs @TuttoMercatoWeb

Nah not having that. Ben White can't even get a game for the England NT, Romero just won the Copa America with Argentina and was a standout performer, plus is one of the best CBs in Italy.

Not saying Ben White is bad, but Romero definitely has the higher pedigree.

€50 million is approximately £42.5 million GBP.

Adds up with that story we had yesterday saying we had offered €40 million plus €10 million in bonuses (£8.5 million).

That means it's around £34m upfront with £8.5 million in add ons which, though it isn't cheap, I would say is a very reasonable fee for the 'best defender in Serie A' last season.

that price smells like kane money. we absolutely have to land a top CB though. we can take a gamble on others, but we need at least one nailed on starter. even at that price i hope it happens.

And about £40m less than what ManU paid for Maguire.

Don't know anything about him other than the fact he was really good in the 1966 Batman series as The Joker...

Go into the ITK thread. Kane isn't going anywhere.

Neither was Bale. It is in the clubs interest to not let that sort of news out until signings are done, so even if top sources say that it could just be a tactical move.

I hope the news is correct and the club don’t do a 180 (unless the money is ridiculous).

A player like Romero is essential, whereas I kind of shrug about Gil. If we already had priorities sorted out I’d feel better about that one.

I don't get this theory. Did we not spend 60m on Ndombele without selling any of our best players? Are Arsenal spending Kane money too? No reason we shouldn't be able to finance a move like this especially with installments.

Exactly right, when stories about Fabio trying to sign this guy first appeared everyone said "Never, never" and now it looks as though we are signing him on the "never, never". Paratici strikes again !

My dad always tells me about the family being poor years ago in the UK and having to get things on the 'never never' :) so hope i've used the expression correctly

Article from La Repubblica, I can't get past the paywall to see if there are any new developments however the first line says

Having defined the purchase of goalkeeper Gollini, now Tottenham are dealing - again with Atalanta - the strong defender Romero. The Argentine will leave Bergamo after the best season of his career, embellished by the America’s Cup he won as a protagonist. The Spurs have beaten the competition from United, but the deal is not yet closed.

Not a player im familiar with but just on his highlights it is clear to me that....

He is a skriniar type CB

Very good at ball winning, his focus is 100% on getting that ball, no theatrics, just good ol fashioned strong ball winning.

Covers ground very well and pretty athletic. A good blend of size, strength, athleticism. Not cumbersome i anyway.

Would do very well in the middle of a back 3 or as a rcb going out to win the ball.

Ive heard meantioned that hes not that good with the ball at his feet but doesnt come across too badly to me, can carry it well, take players on and burst forward with drive.

Knows how to score a goal or two.

Lastly, his attributes actually seem very similar to sanchez. But unlike sanchez he seems far more confident, assured and dominant.

If we can get 1 other cb of similar quality (kuande) and keep kane we will be a serious team this season imo.
