He is no doubt going to be very very good but im not of the view like most on here that he has been good this season. I think he has been rash on several ocassions and again that could be due to the Nuno shite tactics. It is going to be an unpopular opinion but today that red was coming all season.

Worth bearing in mind the first few months at Atalanta he was really bad and then he was word class. He hasn’t been that bad for us in fact he’s been good but there’s far more to come. Let him settle

Undoubtedly our best centre back, but if he's going to be picking up a booking every 2/3 games, that's going to end up as 15 or so every season. That's a three match ban on its own in the PL (actually six in total), but its clear at least two or three of those are going to become reds. Are we going to be ok with him being suspended that often? Hopefully Conte can get into his head and calm some of those impulses.

Need more nastiness like him in the side, unfortunately that can lead to daft sendings off every now and then though.

I understand he plays best in the middle of a back 3 or 5 (according to those who watched him play for Atalanta). In which case, he should be played in that position rather than have his superior ability diluted in order to suit the likes of Dier.

I wouldn’t read too far into today’s lineup, Conte’s had a day with the team. The system and personnel is going to continue to change with time (and through some trial and error)

Very good player. I thought he was unlucky to get two cards considering how some of the opposition had got away with so much before. He will be the central point of the defence for the next few years

I thought his first yellow last night was a little harsh seeing as he strode his ground and the guy nutmegged him then ran straight into him. First foul after a lot of niggly and aggressive fouls from them. The second yellow was really stupid though and he needs to learn. But other than the yellows I thought he was good and is a top class defender. He just needs some experienced heads around him.

I know I know, I don't know better than Conte, but I don't think he's anywhere near fast enough for that position. Then again, someone elsewhere said that in a Conte back 3 the central one is the least aggressive of the three as opposed to how Gasperini used Romero in the centre of his Atalanta defence.

Still, we saw at Inter how Skriniar went from almost out the door to nailing the wide CB spot.
Ye he doesn't have that much pace on him does he. It was clear in that long range duel down the line. Dier is actually faster.

The bookings must cost him a fortune. Love the spirit - tough and wants to win at all costs. A little slow but so was my fav of all time G Roberts. Spirit is everything- Dier I’m fed up with now- always given benefit but no more.

He can read the game so adds a yard . Toe to toe slow . Wing backs should cover the flanks and he’s job is to cover. Love his attitude , skilful and clever.
Dier is off the pace. Off a stand start he’s slow to react.

This is a little harsh, but it’s not incorrect. He’s been picking up yellows left right and centre. This’ll happen a few times with Cuti until he calms down with more experience (hopefully.)

He’s been good, and he’s obviously a cut above the other centre backs we have, and he’s clearly got it in him to be a very good defender. I think he has a fair bit of work to do to get there though.

Things will undoubtedly get better when there’s a more settled system and defence around him too.

I am not sure that he will suit that position in the prem. If he could leap like Moura maybe. But his aerial ability leaves much to be desired from what I have seen.

In a team where Dier and Sanchez is the options, Romero comes of as an "better" option. He's not been that great as many would like him to be but he has potential to become better under Conte regime.
