This kid must be special mainly because Jose gave him his debut and has reaped praise on him recently and thats not something Jose normally does. I'd rather Spurs give this kid a run than blow £80m on some one season wonder from serie A.

Gotta remember he's only 17, we can't expect him to come in start firing in all cylinders right away as the pressure will just get to him. There's nothing wrong with bringing in another striker even if Kane stays.

Dane has to be eased into first team football, like all players his age and with his limited experience, I mean he only played a few u23 games last season so he won't really be used to the physicality and increased playing level compared to the u18 football he was mainly playing last season.

He may just come in an tear it up, but it's highly unlikely.

Agree with this entirely.

All the signs are that this youngster is full of talent and promise. But standing out in u18 and u23 games is IMHO a completely different ball-game (quite literally) to doing so in first-team football. There is the pressure, the expectation, and of course the sheer physicality of the game; not to mention that - at PL level - everybody on the pitch will to some extent or another be a special talent and almost certainly would have stood out at his age. There is also the question of whether or not he has the mentality, attitude, and discipline to succeed, all of which have to be spot on.

I say all this because I think we need to set our expectations accordingly. The right view IMHO is that there is a 50% chance he will end up good enough to be a regular starter for us (bearing in mind the standard we expect); and a 50% chance that he wont. I'd add to that that there is probably about a 2% chance at present that he will be as good as, or better than, Kane. I say that not because I don't believe it (the truth is I don't know) - but because Kane is a once in a generation striker who is (or would have been) on course to become our top scorer of all time (which is no mean feat considering how many goals that takes).

So all of this is to say, let's set our expectations with the lad properly. That will help him succeed.

I’m looking forward to this match. If we play in the same manner as the eleven on Sunday did they’ll be running at the opposition a lot on the counter and I can see Scarlett getting lots of the ball in the final third and we know he’s an exceptional finisher. We’re going to find out a lot about his mentality tonight.

So Dane is obviously ahead of Troy Parrot?
I am at the other end of the world so I dont see anything much about either of them
Troy's had injuries, and been stop start on loans. I think Dane has the higher ceiling.

Great post. We need to give the lad time and be patient with him - even more so as he's coming through at an exceedingly young age.

It is encouraging, however, to see repeated managers waxing lyrical about him. Jose went out of his way to mention how talented Scarlett is in an interview he did after he was sacked, which doesn't strike as something he would do lightly, while Nuno was effusive in praising how well he did in the pre-season friendlies.

I think he'll score tonight.

In preseason he showed excellent technique and composure for his goal and the one that was chalked off. He appears fearless, as many players his age are.

Best of luck to the kid! I love that we have him at age 17 and Troy at age 19 in their developments.

With everything going on in the Kane saga, it feels that we have a doubled down chance that one of these two kids (hopefully both) can become solid PL strikers in the future.

And we have another top notch forward in Jamie Donley coming through. We're actually becoming spoiled for choices.

Wonder what the odds are on him netting one?

Really excited to watch him tonight. Also want to see a big performance from the team selected. How much do they want it?

Parrott was actually 18 when he went on loan. I’d say at 17 they are pretty level. I remember when Kane got injured everyone was calling for Parrott to get a chance at 17. For me Parrott was a bit more wow at 17, scoring 30 yard free kicks ridiculous lopes etc. Dane is very proficient technically good very strong for his age. But there’s just something missing for me, I might be totally wrong and hope he shines tonight . Personally I’ve always felt Donley will be the one just looks the all round package for a modern day striker.

My cousins son had the pleasure of playing against Donley, he said he’s just simply too good for youth football doesn’t miss, but I’ve seen Scarlett first hand a few years back and even then he stood out but to be fair it was him and some lad think his name was Mathurin that just looked so much better than Swansea’s youth team it was funny, he just has something an all round ability which is rare

Starting to generate some press - expect to see more if he does well as it's a real feel good story (hopefully!)
