Sanchez was totally dominant today and deserves all the plaudits. I think it's safe to say that Dier has his work cut out for him, hopefully he's motivated to get better and improve on his concentration.

I really wouldn't be surprised if Dier starts Thursday

Very good. Dont even think he gave away 1 stupid foul.

Although opposition strike force is the worst in the PL but dave did nothing wrong

Thought he was very good today. As @Gbspurs said, he's probably the most salvageable of our CBs but it seems like he needs a more experienced head next to him which Dier is not.
Rodon and Tanganga also need an experienced, calm CB partner at this stage in their development. This highlights the importance of replacing Toby with a top-quality, proven CB - rather than relying on two relatively inexperienced but talented CBs to develop a strong partnership.

Yep, agreed, I thought he was very good today. More the sort of performance we saw when he first came to us.

He's still only 24, so was never going to be able to replace Toby & Jan's experience by this point in his career. There may well have been a hope/expectation (pre-head injury) that Jan would still be about as at least an experienced rotation player, so that him or Toby could be on the field every game.

Thought he had a good game today, and a clean sheet will do his confidence the world of good.

I don’t think this guy is a lost cause, if we can get a leader next to him in defence like today with Toby, things may not be so bad after all at the back.

Our issue is that it doesn’t seem like Toby can play three games a week anymore.

Far better today. Just his whole approach to the game seemed far more positive. I thought he was a lost cause, but would be great if he turned it around.

The thing that impressed me most today was his heading. I counted at least 3 occassions where he made some fanastic headed clearances from deep in our box and normally it's one of the weakest parts of his game. He's still very young and games like that are a reminder there's plenty of time for him to still improve. I agree though that he is one who seems to benefit massively having an experienced CB next to him.

Although Burnley's forward line was pretty crap, he did do well. But we've been here before, many, many times. The question is whether he can maintain any kind of consistency?

Again I’ve said it before but he’s probably the better one out of our Centre back options unfortunately he just looks awful when he’s paired with dier he needs a Toby or a Jan next to him.

He’s still young another 3 years of learning before he gets to near a Centre backs peak, Ledley wasn’t always great if you remember.....
