Maybe, but his opposite side counterpart had a proper mare too.
Yes Davies also had a shocker hence why I said a LCB is needed in the summer which we will 100% get. A new back three of Romero, Dier & a top LCB would be a huge improvement.

Luckily for us, Sanchez will always have admirers due to his athleticism. He's not a terrible player, he has good runs but he's too susceptible to mistakes and he can't seem to remove them from his game. It's not just the odd mistake either, they happen regularly. His composure on the ball is also shocking for a CB. He causes utter panic when he attempts to clear or pass the ball. You need your CBs to be calm and collected.

I think you're being harsh on Davies. He slipped on his arse which can happen to anyone but at least he won his two aerial duals at the back post, unlike dumb and dumber on the right hand side.

I see a lot of people sticking up for Sanchez and I can admit that he’s improved under Conte but I do think he’s a terrible defender. His positioning, his wild unpredictability, his hugely limited passing - I’ve just never got it. I’m obviously in a minority though, so maybe it’s just me. I honestly can’t believe we paid somewhere close to £40m for him.

The performance all Sanchez detractors knew would come. It's all so obvious with him sometimes. I pray that this doesn't launch the bad form cycle.

We'll be back here next season too, with his supporters claiming he's finally turned it around, and the rest of us waiting for that inevitable slip, or header straight back into danger.

He’s been this way since the day he signed. Which is why I found the whole “he’s still relatively young/hasn’t reached his peak yet/defenders mature later” arguments nonsense.

Some aspects of defending can improve through time and coaching, but the aspect you’ve highlighted unfortunately cannot.

He’s never going to be good enough.

People need to separate a poor player having a few good games, and an actual quality player.

Sanchez is the former. Put him under any pressure and he wilts. His ability on the ball is woeful. He panics. His concentration is poor. He’s bambi on ice. Etc etc

Don’t know how true it is but apparently playing with an injury to help the team

Really dumb squad management ( if it's true) when we have Rodon on the bench. And if Rodon is not in the managers plan, then why is he still here?

These are the periods in Sanchez s game whereby he needs to focus but it must be said the midfield was poor.

I just don't understand why he doesn't stay in his position. He's always getting dragged around into midfield or out wide. Just fucking stay where you're supposed to be.

Depends on what 'good enough' is to you. Even we are talking about CL-worthy then only Romero is on point, the rest dont have the ability to play there consistently, including Dier.

I agree with your assessment of Sanchez btw.

I dont think he was the reason we lost the game today though. Royal was the weakest link for me.

I sometimes feel Sanchez tries to much. Emerson needed help as he wasn't getting any from an absolutely abysmal midfield.

Sanchez had been playing really well under Conte against Southampton he had an off day but in fairness there was mitigating circumstances.

Same old same old with Sanchez, no one will ever be able to coach the inconsistency out of him.

I’ve just seen a thread on twitter detailing how Sanchez completely loses his man leaving Emerson with two players to mark for the goals. Complete lack of awareness behind him.

I think Sanchez was absolutely the weakest link today and the goals are just as much his fault if more more. Royal wasn’t any better mind.

And yea we need CL quality defenders.

Its very unfortunate for every 5 great games Sanchez will play 1 below par game in 6 and that's where he'll be judged.

This has no basis in reality at all mate. He has played far more poor games for spurs in his career here. It’s not even close. In fact it’s the people who use one good performance where he is put under minimal pressure against a passive attack (Brighton) and say he’s actually better than he is. As soon as Sanchez comes up against a team with a bit about them he’s a calamity.
