Good luck Dav, will be rooting for you to beat Bayern and Manure in the Champions League, against Bayern you have a very easy striker to deal with , you will dominate him.

This feels like 4 months of praying we don’t get an injury to VDV and Romero to me. The 3rd and 4th options are a player that’s not a CB in a back 4 and doesn’t have the pace to play in the high line and an 18 year old. Feels like this could potentially be a real self sabotage. Really hope not!
Yep looks a wild decision to me. Its 13 mill pounds and that's if add-ons are reached for our 40 mill CB who has been playing well recently. Great deal for the Turks and yes, there looks to be an element of self sabotage like vs Fulham .

We don't know how good Phillips is and Ange does presumably, so when Romero is out injured (playing for Argentina natch) ..a moment of truth for us....possibly vs Sheff Utd.

Personally I’d like to know a centre back that would sign for us knowing they are going to be a back up. People keep saying just sign him, eg Tapsoba. He would never have signed as a back up for a team with no European football.
Give youth a chance Is the way forward.

Tbh I’m not fussed we got less money from Galatasaray than Rennes offered. Rennes got a big windfall in cash from selling doku but they still had the cheek to carry on pleading poverty.

It winds me up how these mainland Europe clubs operate. Be consistent ffs, don’t demand ridiculous fees for your players from PL clubs if you’re going to also only offer peanuts when buying from the PL.

Yep, naive to believe we could attract 2 top CBs in the last window, the rebuild has started and I’m happy with that.

Best of luck to Dav, always liked him. Shame he had a few managers who couldn’t help him develop his strengths and limit his weaknesses. Always have his best.

I can understand the concern about cover, but I trust Ange and I also like that we have created an opportunity for a Phillips or Dorrington. I am happy to take short term pain if it means young talent gets to develop and we get back the view that we are a good place for young talent to go because they will get a chance.

Not saying we need one, but is it possible still to register free agents for this season or did we have to register final squad on saturday. There probably aren't any decent available, but Sevilla look to sign Sergio Ramos so it's possible in La Liga.

Anyway best of luck to Big Dave

Because we would never do that?

I think the main complaint is we got a very similar offer last week and rejected it. If we'd have sold him then we'd have had a much better chance at getting a much needed replacement.
Did we not get that offer the day before deadline day and Bournemouth weren't prepared to let Lloyd Kelly go at that stage of the window anyway?

Or we could have just bought one anyway knowing that we still had the Turkish market to sell to this week. We probably did know that but didn’t want to spend money on a new player and also be squeezed on the price for Sanchez this week.

If we didn’t know Galatasaray were keen for him last week then what are we doing? It is people’s roles at the club to know about the potential for these moves. I suspect instead it was all down to Levy not wanting to lose out on two deals.

I thought they'd both gone on loan, just catching up with news this morning. Good luck to him, I don't doubt he'll shine, he's keen. His time with us was basically our worst period in a long time for managers, tactics and, arguably, personnel so I hope he finds his form again out there.

Think we probably promised him he could leave and kept to it.

I understand Jerome Boetang is still available as a free agent. He's 35. Wonder what his pace is still like? We probably could do worse on a short term - til Xmas window or til the end of the season?

We definitely need a new CB, but I don’t understand the panic around selling Sanchez.

Compared to last season, we have upgraded Sanchez to Van der Ven. Swapped Lenglet with Phillips. Considering that we are in two fewer competitions than last year and are playing two at the back rather than three, we are clearly in a much better position defensively. Last year Dier and Ben Davies started almost every game; now we’re worried about possibly having to use them as a back ups.

I would have liked us to sign another CB this summer, but I can also see the logic in holding off. In January or next summer, we will have a much better idea about whether we’re looking for an upgrade on Romero/VDV or a back-up option that could potentially play at RB or LB too.

With Kane leaving, Ange coming in, and buying younger players for the squad, it feels like we are finally in a position where we can experiment and take risks, rather than desperately grasping for short term fixes that then create a problem further down the line.

I'd love to know if there was something that went down in his personal life or something that hit his confidence, because whilst I'm sure he is going to be remembered as a bit of a joke and a poor signing, what people forget is just how good he was in his first season. I thought we had the next Ledley on our hands:

Take a look at the early pages of this very thread - https://www.spurscommunity.co.uk/index.php?threads/player-watch-davinson-sanchez.129901/page-24

He was so good after his first season that he earned himself a new six year deal, but it was so sad to see him get progressively worse and worse from the moment he signed it. Every time it seemed like he was improving and starting to fulfil his potential then he'd drop an absolute howler and the fans would get on his back again.

Good luck to him - seemed like a good bloke, although in all honesty I'm glad that I'll never have to watch him play in defence for us again.

Such a shame, he was absolutely amazing in first season. We were playing a style that allowed him to use his physical gifts in terms of speed and strength. And gave him multiple passing options on the ball, so minimised his weakness.

Once mourinho came in - a manager who had already called him a weak spot at Ajax when Man U played them in the europa league final - and we started playing defensive, reactrive football it seems Sanchez's confidence fell off a cliff and never really recovered. Not helped one bit by our idiotic fans booing him.

I'm not even sure Rennes did offer more. I thought it was 7.9milion? And who knows what the agreement is on Davs final year of contract and clearly the TN deal was all part of the overall negotiations.

A classic case why it's important to have a style of play that we stick to as a club and recruit players, managers and DoF's that all fit that

He had a disastrous time at Lyon and was also fined around £1 million for beating the mother of his daughters. No thanks.
