I'm curious about what peoples opinions are about Sanchez so far this season. I have a few mates who can't stand him and I usually disagree with them. Their main issues are positioning during crosses/corners but the main one is that he steps out to tackle a lot and then gets caught out positionally. Wondered what the feelings were from you lot.

I think people forget how young he is. He's only 1 year older than Juan Foyth and compared to how raw Foyth looks, Sanchez looks like a player way, way beyond his years.

Sanchez makes mistakes from time to time, but thats to be expected. IMO he'll be one of the best CBs in Europe within the next 5 years.

That's literally what I always say which is I don't expect him to be a top cb for a few years but then I see a few people on here suggest otherwise so I'm interested to know peoples feelings. One of my personal opinions recently is he isn't as strong as I anticipated, gets beat shoulder to shoulder a lot. I've been pleasantly surprised his technique on the ball though.

He's clearly gone backwards a bit from how good he was when he first joined. But I put that down to the fact he played a full season at Ajax off the back of a full season in Colombia with no break, then joined us, when straight into the team, then went to the World Cup. For such a young centre back, he's played too much football. Now obviously he's coming back from an injury, so hopefully that's given him the break he needs and he can get back to how good he was. Clearly he's going to be a top drawer centre back.

I'm in the belief that he's one of the best young CBs around. A position that usually sees players peak later in their career.

Think he's going to be a monster and am more than happy we acquired his services.

I think Gomez is looking the full package although Gomez is 21 haha.

I agree with this because I thought he was unbelievable first season especially considering I don't think he was meant to play many games. I just wish we could play 3 cb's and he could share the pitch with Alder and Vert at the same time, perfect balance for me in that situation.

He made a lot of mistakes when he first joined, fans were very forgiving. He grew into that season. He hasn't had a regular run of games this season so it's hardly surprising that he hasn't played his best. For me though he clearly has improved as a player, particularly on one on ones, his passing also has been a lot less erratic and puts his foot through the ball much better than he did. He's a wonderful talent, all of our defenders, bar vertonghen, have made pretty consistent errors, but that doesn't make you a bad player!

Yes he's good for his age and experience so far, but he's still very much a junior defender that needs a steady hand playing with him at the top level.

Want to see him in the back 3 again. Thats where he's at his best where he can just play clean up. Its too bad we've only seen it a handful of times thus far.

What I've found interesting as of late is Eriksen and even Dele to an extent have been taking up deepers roles at different times. I wish we could just put Moussa in the hole with those 2 infront and play Kane and Son up top. Just a shame Son is off soon.

With son off soon we might see it again if jan gets fit. Wouldn't suprise me if we play chelsea that way.

Works for me! If those three are fit I'd play that in most "big games".

As a matter of fact I don't think we've ever seen a lineup that featured Rose-Vertonghen-Sanchez-Alderweireld-Aurier.

I think he looks a lot less erratic than last season. Personally I feel totally at ease when I see he’s playing. Foyth is basically where sanchez was last season even though I like him I feel something dodgy could happen any minute. I don’t feel like at all now with Sanchez now.

I really like Foyth, but that's doing Sanchez a huge disservice. He played basically every game for the team that finished 3rd in the PL, and the year before that was a regular for a team that reached the EL final. Sanchez of last season was definitely better (more ready) than current Foyth.

Big man today in his battles with Mitrovic. Stayed cool when Mitrovic wrestled him to the ground.

Not the finished product but with game time he’ll be top.
