I wasn’t talking about yesterday as an isolated event - but highlighted all his flaws (and good qualities) in general.

This is my perception of him, and I am curious to learn what others are seeing that I don’t - but am mostly drained in WTF ratings and short replies that I am totally wrong. I am fine with that - no prob.

I am not sure Dave was better than Toby yesterday, but maybe he was.
But in general i believe:

He cannot pass, Even short un-pressed passes are often misplaced.
He cannot clear the ball controlled with his feet or head.
He has trouble with following the line of the rest of the defence.
He is often unaware of players behind him.
He charges to much at times when standing patiently in the back would be enough.

Am I wrong in this perception?

like I said - he has immense Power and speed, sometimes correcting own wrongdoings... But is that enough?

I feel Tanganga is already a much better player

(I’m over the moon with recent results, but still think it’s fair to have negative opinions on certain issues)
You can have negative opinions and critique players. But calling him a Championship level player and making out he cannot clear the ball just comes across as hyperbolic nonsense.

Brilliant through ball
yesterday
for Son's winner.

Him and Aurier together
in the back line
is worrying
as they both
have a mistake in them.

Ok yesterday though
mainly

A fine criticism, if you called them Championship players it would come across as nonsense, however poetically you put it.

would love to be proven wrong.
But in my view, our defence is one of the worst in the league and he is no regular starter so I don’t see the big controversy in saying he is not good enough for PL.
But I’ll leave it there. Hope I’m wrong and he becomes a star

It's actually the 8th best and there's a massive chasm between Prem and Championship teams for one...don't try and add logic to a ridiculous statement

Didn’t realize calling own player (Sanchez) Championship player internally among fellow fans would be considered so offensive

Apologies.

love the man, hate his qualities:)

I don’t think anybody has taken offence to it.

I hate the dumbing down of society. We should have a basic enough vocabulary to give reasonable opinions on the strengths and weaknesses of players.

Calling Sanchez a Championship player isn’t offensive but it is dumb.

Not convinced by Sanchez and believe Tanganga is already showing himself to have greater potential and more natural talent. Very happy to have Sanchez as one of four CDs but would expect for the four to include two better ones than him.

not so sure. You could be right, but don’t think those stats would be a «mythbuster»
Well they say that more of his passes go to one of our team than Toby or Jan's. Yes Jan and Toby play more long balls but even so it's not fair to say he gives the ball away more as stats say he doesn't. I think like most of our squad his form dipped in the last 6-8 months but he's been one of our best defenders this year. Certainly better than Jan and for the early part of the season better than Toby. He offers mobility and aggression that Toby and Jan don't offer. You need a mix at the back and he's certainly not a player I'd get rid of.

Hes definitely been better than Toby who’s had an ok season but far below his best. Lots of mistakes unfortunately. And Toby ain’t on an upward trajectory.

Let’s not start on jan - who i love but this season...!!?

He's not an elite ball-playing defender, ofc he's playing less passes than Toby but saying that he can't pass is dumb.

To more context, stats for PL this season, all positions.

Short passes(fewer than 5 yards):
30% passing accuracy for Davinson vs 36.8% for Toby vs 21.1% for Jan

Medium passes(fewer than 25 yards more than 5)
92.8% passing accuracy for Davinson vs 93.8% for Toby vs 91.1% for Jan

Long passes(more than 25 yards)

78.4% passing accuracy for Davinson(329 attempted) vs 71.5% for Toby(670) vs 74.3% for Jan(276)
