And yet those of us in South stand thought differently. I am not saying that there wasn’t any in the South stand booing. But there were non around me and I am on the edge of the main singing and it did not come from there. As I said to us it was a muted booing.
Me too and it wasn't coming from around me, some very angry people but none of that.
Anger mostly for not just going four at the back.

If you look at the comments about Sanchez and the team on social media you can get a feel for the types of people that boo and shout abuse in stadiums - Neanderthal’s

These aren’t the types that have the ability to think constructively, they act on emotion - Player make mistake, player bad, angry now.

It would be great but I don’t think there is a way to eliminate it from stadiums, idiots exist, they sometimes have money and can gain entrance to Levy Dome.

What we need is a manager that knew it wasn’t the right time to stick Dave on. Why were we playing 5 defenders against Bournemouth anyway?
While this is true, and I don't like it, there appears to have been a shift.

Portions of the fans have always booed players when they play poorly or make mistakes. I'm not a fan of this but have to accept it happens.

But what appears to be happening more is booing players before they have done anything. I was at the Leeds game and a noticeable portion of the fans booed Royal's name when calling out the team sheet and everytime he got the ball. They didn't wait for him to make a mistake, they just booed his presence.

It seems we've taken this toxic culture a step further.

I'm South lower 251 and there was quite a bit around me. Ironically the few trying to get a "We Want Levy Out!" started got very few takers.

Hugo did so.

Our "fans" did the same this very season to Emerson. It's disgusting.

And they won’t give Emerson any credit for working hard to improve and putting some really good performances in prior to his injury. He’s one bad pass or one missed challenge leading to a goal away from the same thing occurring. It’s absolutely pathetic.

only time I've ever booed a player was Ramon Vega. And that only as a last resort to stop the club from getting relegated as Vega was an unbelievable car crash, costing us the game every week with the most indescribably bad peformances. Gary Mabbutt was sitting on the bench and Gross refused to drop his compatriot. The crowd eventually snapped and booed Vega, he was immediately dropped, Mabbutt was reinstated and we stayed up.

In many ways, you're a hero.

This season has truly been the most toxic I can remember in a long time.
We’re a complete shambles on / off the pitch.

I’m personally disgusted by the treatment of Sanchez by the moronic section of our fanbase yesterday. It’s a new low in my opinion.

However poorly a Spurs player has performed in a game I've never booed them and never will.

The issues about a players ability are separate from expressing such a negative reaction towards one of our own trying their best.

Should he have been sold earlier and should Levy have bitten the bullet and taken decision to cut his losses and moved on big Dave far than now ? Yes absolutely that's on Levy 100%.

Was the manager wrong in trying to get him to play in a position he clearly isn't upto at the moment, at the right or left of a centre back 3 ? Yes.

Did the manager realise he'd made a howler putting him on and bringing him off after 23 minutes of play ? Yes absolutely.

Was Big Dave trying his best but was just not good enough or able to cope with the situation defensively that he has was put into ? Yes, is that his fault ? No, but then he wouldn't be the first and only defender who has looked looked badly our of his depth and unable to cope, especially this season.

Was he devastated when he was brought off ? He clearly didn't look OK, he looked visibly upset and he did care, he felt he let us down. Those who booed let us down more than he did.

As I've said in other posts I took my 7 and a half nephew to his first Spurs game today and he even he was mature enough not to boo one of our own, however much the player was struggling and however disappointed he must have felt inside as a kid that we were underperforming at the time in shipping in two goals and were 2-1 down. So the booing from our own fans is totally on them and should be a reflection of their own shortcomings, unaccapable and out of order. Yes totally.

Will it continue and/or will others be substituted and targeted when big Dave is eventually moved on ? I hope not but sadly yes I think it will continue.

Is that something I'm happy about ? Absolutely not !

Enough said I've put in my tuppence worth.....

Reading through most of the posts here it’s reassuring that most found the behaviour towards Sanchez from a section of fans at yesterdays game unacceptable.

I echoed a lot of this when Emerson was getting disgusting abuse and it was so horrible my missus had to sit out on most of our home games after the World Cup.

Being in the west upper 501, you get a decent view and especially pick up the acoustics. If anything I was confused by it, yes it was from a small section but it’s vile and gives our fan base a horrible look.

I hope it doesn’t get any worse but have a feeling that the online disagreements (to put it lightly) might turn ugly in the stands like it did with Arsenal years ago, fans fighting each other etc. Hope I am completely wrong. Not just the football but this behaviour is totally off putting and makes you think again in attending.

This is meant to be an escape from it all, hasn’t been helped at all by our hierarchy, however, the shite decisions over the years from our board isn’t an excuse and I for one want them out.

The boos were loud on tv but does anyone guesstimate how many fans were booing on from what section?

Assume south stand

We are a banter club and at the moment, we deserve it.. If i lived anywhere in the UK, I'd buy a Davinson Sanchez jersey and wear it for every game for the rest of the season. i do so hope that some fans will be smart enough to sing to him for the rest of the season.

I’m not painting everyone in the south stand with the same brush but there is a huge number of utter tools who sit in that stand. My season ticket is just behind the goal and I’ve stopped going partly because I sit around people who go just to scream abuse and have no interest in the actual football or in their personal hygiene. There’s one dickhead near me who I swear only goes to abuse opposition goalkeepers.

I was speaking to a friend about what happened to Sanchez yesterday and mentioned this game as, like you, it was the only time i ever booed one of our players (in 17 yrs as a s/t holder) and i still feel bad about doing it ! But it was a particularly bad time and anyone who followed us back then will know that the current 'crisis' is nothing compared to that season (yet i can't recall it feeling anywhere near as toxic back then, i may be completely wrong but i felt the fans really rallied behind the team when relegation was a real possibility - i can certainly remember large turnouts at WHL to watch the live screenings of the away games for example)

The only time I have booed a player is... never, actually. As a fan base we are struggling to come to terms with being a mid table club again, which is understandable because it was all so avoidable.

But to direct that frustration and a person, never mind one who has always worked hard, with the right attitude, is unacceptable and frankly childish.

I really dislike football fandom of this nature. As everyone keeps saying, direct the frustration at the owners.

Didn't you just post about how Richarlison is a shit signing in a different thread?
