I’m not painting everyone in the south stand with the same brush but there is a huge number of utter tools who sit in that stand. My season ticket is just behind the goal and I’ve stopped going partly because I sit around people who go just to scream abuse and have no interest in the actual football or in their personal hygiene. There’s one dickhead near me who I swear only goes to abuse opposition goalkeepers.
I'm the same but in the upper section, block 250. There's one guy who sits behind me that just moans for 90 minutes week in, week out, since we moved in in 2019. It used to be Dele, then Winks, now it's whoever. I've started deliberately cheering every player he starts hurling abuse towards just to balance it out and piss him off.

For every "you're a ****, Dele" that's come out of that guys mouth I've met it with a "we love you Dele, keep it up sweetie you're trying your best".

only time I've ever booed a player was Ramon Vega. And that only as a last resort to stop the club from getting relegated as Vega was an unbelievable car crash, costing us the game every week with the most indescribably bad peformances. Gary Mabbutt was sitting on the bench and Gross refused to drop his compatriot. The crowd eventually snapped and booed Vega, he was immediately dropped, Mabbutt was reinstated and we stayed up.

Bizarre coincidence that this was on my Twitter feed just before I read your post.

I cannot stand Sanchez. I get annoyed whenever he is on the pitch and I hate the sight of his face.

But for fucks sake don't boo your own player on a match day. OK if they're doing something provocative like Ndombele casually strolling off when we're losing, but not for having a bad day at the office.

I've disliked many of our players, managers and owners over the years but I've mostly liked our fan base. Right now though I think it's one of the worst things about the club. So many utter bellends in the stadium and even more on the internet

I just don't understand how these morons can think booing any player will help the team and therefore the club they proport to be fans of.
To me it just shows how small their understanding of life is and how one should live it.
As for social media. In my mind It's the worst thing that has happened with new technologies.

I can honestly state 2 things.

1........ I'm really pleased I cannot attend games anymore.
2........ As bad as it may sound. I'm getting near the end of my lifetime and won't have to put up with this lack of empathy for other human beings,
I don't worry about neg ratings etc.
BUT I'm really worried for the future for my daughter and my grand children growing up.

Extremely difficult to come into a struggling side when you haven't played much at all and aren't performing well either. I played the sport my whole life and know it can be tough entering in those circumstances. I can't imagine getting boo'd to just add to insult.

Crazy because last season when Romero was out in the end of the season run in, Davi played really well. He never complains, always gives his all, and has been a decent servant to this club.

Really, really turned me off with the booing yesterday, and really made me numb to the result.
Conversely the singing come on you spurs was quite epic in the 85th plus even though 25% had left. Shame the team couldn’t deliver

I really don't understand the mindset nowadays and I'm not that old!
I used to go to cheer on the team, to support them and quite simply, have a great time whatever the result (to be fair that's maybe because we used to lose more than we won - I don't think I saw a goal from us in my first four games!).
I was just happy to be a tiny part of it, doing my bit to support the team I love.

I don't understand paying all that money to go, while being miserable and moaning the whole time.
In all my years going, I can only really remember being sat near a negative gobshite once and he soon got shut up by those around him.
It seems like it's the polar opposite these days, which is sad.

Cheer, sing, have a laugh and bring some optimism to the place, you never know, it might just rub off on the players.

Yes I agree with your sentiments about going to matches.
When I first started going down the Lane in the mid 50's I was just a lad of 9. My Big brother used to take me and we'd pop into the green grocers near the ground end of WHL and get an orange box for me to stand on cos the crowds were good and the crash barriers were not near to where we would like to stand.
Even passed down over the top of the crowd to sit round the pitch side and watch the game.
Crowds would clap if the play was good and cheer for a goal but it was very quite when the team weren't playing very well.
Can't remember players getting boo'd.

You got some statistical evidence to back that up?

Disgrace all round, you would think we were about to be relegated the toxicity around the place at the moment, but to boo you own player for being rusty and making some mistakes, have a word with yourself.

I bet that's the same bloke I came to blows with some time back. Was definitely block 250. Similar thing, he was abusing certain players constantly, one in particular, then we scored and I made a point of cheering said player, and turning round to give this "fan" some verbals. He swung a punch at me for it..........I retaliated....at age 61 FFS!!!!

He embodies everything that is wrong with the club , outstayed his welcome by about 3 years. Paid double what he was worth , £42m to Ajax for a player that can’t trap a ball, isn’t particularly pacey , horrific in the air now nobody wants him and levy won’t give him away . How many of those have we got ? Think about his cameo against Everton last Monday , he was all over the place and we move the team around to accommodate this player ffs , hopefully that’s the last we will see of him.

This thread and its intentions one way or the other will make zero difference. I’m not sure those that MAY or proclaim to fly the flag of decency towards an individual will out swing a large movement. It is the way things are going. By all means don’t participate but do get used to it. Especially in here as it happens - a lot of those people do not even enter a place such as this where there may be an even or balanced chat about it.

Everything you say about him is correct. I laugh or groan when I see him coming onto the pitch. BUT that is not directly his fault and he as a person shouldn’t be vilified. I blame the idiots who bought the guy in the first place. How did we purchase someone from a footballing stylehouse who can’t actually play football? It is not Sanchez’s fault as such. No it is those that brought him to Spurs. But booing him will not help Sanchez or the club. Just maybe it will help get rid of him sooner?

Been reading through this thread and its good to see that the vast majority condemn the abuse Sanchez received.
What happened was bullying.
Poor bloke looked distraught.
I hate bullies with a passion.
Despite the majority in here being of the same mind there must be some who were there and joined in with the mob mentality.
I hope you feel like shit for what you did and never do it again. If you cant help yourself just stay at home on match days and scream at the tv.
These players are people not robots.
I'd like to see some support for Sanchez from our fans next match. Probably wont do much for him but at least it may show we aren't all total dicks and do appreciate what these guys are trying to do.

Every single fan that abused Sanchez yesterday should be utterly ashamed of themselves. Absolute scum behaviour. You are an embarrassment to our club. Why single out one player that has only played a few games this year and is not responsible for the shit we are in. If you must be pricks, at least boo the whole team that actually do deserve it.

This for me is the final straw. Garbage club from top to bottom. The one thing I thought we could at least be proud of was the fan base. Not any more. Never understood why so many club's fans hate us. I get it now.

Worst part for me is I guarantee there are multiple people on this forum probably even in this thread who were guilty of the booing but have kept quiet and hidden away.

Make yourself known and provide an explanation behind why you think it was the right thing to do? I’d love to try and get an understanding of how your brain works…

I've never hid my disdain for this guy, never. Absolute disaster of a footballer. Can't pass, reads the game awfully, struggles to control the ball, causes panic amongst the team. I liken it to when I was playing under age football and the coach had to give everyone a game and the worst player came on, the whole team knew he'd do something to cost us 90% of the time.

Many on here were sure he'd improve and kick on as he got older but he's gotten progressively worse over time.

But booing him is not something I could ever get on board with.

Utterly pathetic behaviour. He's still a Spurs player. I'm sure he's trying but he just doesn't have it. It's on the club for allowing him to still be here, and for this to happen.

I am not sure if it has been stated elsewhere on here but I wonder if the additional 24 thousand supporters have a different approach to supporting Spurs. During the 90’s and 00’s the football and players on show at White Hart Lane was well below the standard we deserved but in all that time I only remember hearing booing of the team or a player was for Ghaly, who ripped off his shirt, who upset the crowd, I cannot remember if I booed but I definitely gave him verbals and sang you are not fit to wear the shirt.
My point being is the 36,000 who attended week in and out probably have a higher tolerance to poor performances. Having attended the Lane since the early 70’s I have only heard booing for the opposition and officials. The booing seems to be a new stadium phenomenon and I just wonder is it caused by the influx of new supporters?
