The fuck is up with some of you? Man missed a penalty. It happens. It shows absolutely nothing about his character, because it's a complete coin flip.
How come I knew it was going to be heads then?

Aside from the penalty which had an air of inevitability about it, I just feel when he plays it feels like them other team are going to score. He just needs to go .

For the get rid of Sanchez now crew? Would you go with just 3 centre halves (presuming we sign one) or are we talking Dier/Tanganga remontada for fourth (third with current squad) choice? Genuinely wondering. My hope is he sticks around and goes next time.

He made some really poor passes and I just don't think he should be near the team.

But, to blame him for stepping up is just overboard and reactionary. Fair fucks to him for having a go, the blame for him taking one should not be on him.

That’s a far too simplistic question, I want Tanganga, Dier and Sanchez to go as quickly as possible but they obviously need to be replaced. By at least the likes of Tosin and one other. Maybe Schuurs ?

Presumably you thought the same when Kane missed vs France then?
Come on, I challenge you to find one Spurs fan who said when Sanchez steps up anything other than ‘what the f***, why is he taking one’.

Granted should never have been put in that position but still, I think 95% of us knew what way it was going before it happened

Think that question is better for the board isn’t it, as it’s there fault we are once again left with the choice of keeping him or nothing. #FIxItNExtWindow

Don’t blame him for the pen, it was a decent save. It’s more the goal we conceded which he could have a lot better

It's not just a coin flip though is it.

Kane's percentage change of scoring is way higher than Sanchez's.

When Davidson stood over that ball, he never looked looked liked he'd score, head down, no confidence on show. His movements were easily telegraphed, his kick was weak and nowhere near the corner. Worryingly he clearly fancied his chances too.

Sanchez earned a lot of credit for coming back from the boos last season but he has come up woefully short time and time again.

No it isn't, penalty taking takes technical ability among mental strength. These are not his qualities. There's nothing wrong with that as he's a centre back. It's far from just a coin flip otherwise why even bother picking takers at all? If it were, you would just pull them out of a hat as the fairest selection.

Now it's not his fault it went to penalties. We were so very poor tonight and he himself was poor also. It was a team loss tonight and we should have done better. He does deserve criticism for a poor decision to take a penalty though.

Not a great game to go out on. And yet, so, so, so symbolic of his time at Spurs.

Why he took a pen, I will never, ever understand.

This is confirmation bias though - we've all said "he'll score" or "he'll miss" and we immediately forget afterwards if we're wrong. I've seen players with unshakeable confidence miss and I've seen players whose mentality is often questioned score.

Oh I agree, it’s a problem that’s built up over years and doesn’t look like it’s stopping with another flurry of loans.

A few hours ago loads of people in this thread were saying he'd turned a corner and we needed to make sure he stayed.

This was always going to happen tbh. He might be more suited to the system but he's still Sanchez and will always revert to type soon after every good spell.

Not Sanchez's fault that he's on the way out but was chosen to play. I completely understand covering up Romero in bubble wrap but we got what we deserve for not sorting the situation by now by securing a backup or simply accepting Phillips in the role.

I'm here and I will be taking my official MI6 James Bond issued Cyanide Pill over any of those 3 being our backup hahaha

Personally I never predict either way. I know anything can happen from the spot. What I do feel is a level of confidence in whoever steps up. Its more about increasing your chances by having the best available finisher take one. Of course Sanchez could have scored but either way it's a massive a gamble. The goal probability with him taking one is much lower than a natural striker of the ball.

Surely everyone thought it when he stepped up. There must've been a collective sigh from every Spurs fan on the planet.

💯 but as we will only be signing max 1 more CB I still think he’s our best 4th choice option for the remainder of the season, certainly better than Dier and Tanganga imo so in that sense nothing has really changed apart from he missed a penalty which we know isn’t what he’s paid to do.
