Can we please start to distinguish between pounds and euros? It really starts to look ignorant if you think 1 pound equals 1 euro. 40 million euros is actually only about 32m pounds

While not an outright speedster, I don’t think he’s particularly slow. Stats would suggest he’s about as fast as Kane, and Statsbomb says the following (from his time at Parma):
From what I’ve seen he looks a fair bit quicker than Kane.

Lots of people overlooking the fact that he had a huge hand in helping Juve win the Coppa Italia with a very well taken goal and an assist in a 2-1 win in the final. OK, it's one game but we need players who can turn up in big games, it's something we've lacked for some time.

This is a good point. I don't think people have noticed that the exchange rate is back at 1.2euro to 1 GBP.

I just typed and deleted some political opinion. I will leave that for another thread

Yeah. I tried to do some research and his FIFA 22 speed (which is calculated using players' 100m time) is much higher than Kane. but then I also found stats from UEFA and the Euros that suggest they've both been clocked at roundabout the same sprint speed, with Kane fastest by a nose. So... split the difference.

His role in the team last season was featured in the Juventus All Or Nothing series on Amazon. He did well when he came into the side. Others liked his hard work and important goals. That's pretty much all I know of him.

Just watching the highlights, in that game, he also found himself on the left at one point and put in a good cross with his right foot for Ronaldo. Good that he can use both feet

I’m not really sure where the “average player” rhetoric has come from.

He was young player of the year in Serie A 18 months ago.

There is no downside to this deal if it is a loan with and option.

And I heard someone say he’s about as quick as Kane. He’s definitely quicker than that.

If he’s playing behind the striker does he need loads of pace?

He wouldn’t have made it as far as he has in the game if he operated at a snails pace.

You have reminded me of yet another coaching session I had as a youngster.

We used to just pass to our speed merchant & watch him go. Manager would go nuts & one night in training he gathered us into a circle and told our speed merchant to start sprinting as quick as he could.

The lad got about 30 yards away and then the manager got a ball, hit it from the half way line & it flew way beyond our speedster.

He called the lad back to our circle & simply said "see, nobody is faster than the ball. So pass the fucking ball".

Most simple, yet effective instructions we were given as kids. Use the ball right & speed can become irrelevant.

Look at the likes of Brighton & Man City. The ball does most of the work. This is where Conte's patterns come into play, too. So adding intelligence with the ball (& off the ball movement) will make a significant difference to what we can do on the pitch.

I agree. But for the WF positions, Sonny/Lucas (rather than Kane) should IMO be the relevant benchmark for the level of explosive pace needed. Then again, he does provide more creativity than Son/Lucas - and if he had their pace, he would probably be out of our reach. As a left footer, he would presumably improve the balance of our front three by cutting in from RWF.

I know nothing about this lad, but going on other posters comments and the odd YouTube clip I wonder if he could evolve into a KDB style player. Here's hoping!

It’s been said before, but with conte our attackers don’t play as wingers….that’s the job of the wingbacks. They play as inside forwards/tens. It’s why Sonny has struggled there I think.

Agreed that they do play more as inside forwards. Not sure though if that necessarily eliminates the need for explosive pace in those positions? I also wonder if the current 3-4-3 formation (instead of 3-5-2) could be a result of our lack of speed at WB (which then instead would need to come from WF)?

We seem very keen to get a player in that would, in theory, play in Son's position, both this fella and Diaz would be almost direct replacements, (from what I have seen on youtube) Would that be a fair assumption?
This guy is left footed and plays on the right.

Just checked latest exchange rates and got 0.83 Euro to 1 Pound sterling so
40,000,000 Euro equals 33,268,038.68 Pound sterling
What' s a million and a quarter among friends though?

Top speed is very rarely an interesting stat for players, acceleration is what matters most of the time.
