after five years of signing so much dross we've hit three out of the park with romero, bentancur and kulusevski.
"We" or the incompetent fraud of a DOF who was only doing his Juve mates a favour?

Not aimed at you btw, just pointing out there were quite a few that showed nothing but disdain for Paratici. Maybe it's time they considered he might actually really know what he's doing, and give him and AC a bit more credit when it comes to us signing players even when they can't see the initial benefit.

I can't believe he's only 22 and only played in the PL for barely half a season.

He looks like he's been in the league for years, and has the calmness and decision-making of someone several years more experienced.

If he keeps developing his game, I honestly think he has a chance of becoming an elite superstar.

Pretty sure 99% of the forum does that now.

Yep. Also worth remembering we tried to get Diaz before Kulu. Diaz is also a really good player, but I doubt we sign Kulu if we got Diaz over the line. And when we failed to get Diaz, it looked like we were at desperation stage and FP was going cap in hand to his old club with a begging bowl. We definitely got lucky that Liverpool pipped us to Diaz and we got Kulu. At the end of the day, FP had to prove himself to us fans, god only knows we've had so many pretenders here.

But now, you won't see many people criticising him, his signings have been excellent.

I'm sure it has been said plenty of times already, but what a performance by Kulu yesterday. Further confirmation we have the best attack force in the PL (though the Dippers might run us close) and our opposition will have plenty to ponder this season. Of course, the best solution is to be able to shut down all three. Good luck with that!

Message Boards are for folk to express their opinion but far too many hold on to those opinions regardless of what is happening as the player/s and the season develops.

Deki reminds me a bit of Robert Pires - not the quickest, but skilled and multi-faceted

Interesting quote from Pires, which reinforces the sense of similarity

"Speed wasn’t my strongest asset so I had to rely on other qualities to get the better of opponents in one-on-one situations. My signature move was the stop-start dribble. I’d set off, stop, and then set off again to beat my opposite number."

Changes of pace is as important as pure speed - and Deki has that ability to draw player in and leave him for dead.

Fun to watch

The turnaround has been fantastic, not just from a quality point of view but from a quantity of players and value point of view too.
A calendar year ago we needed, in my opinion, 6 starters and 4 players for cover to become competitive.
I didn't think that we could achieve that within the constraints of the cost of a modern top class player.

But 12 months on we had 3 out of 4 of those players staking a claim for MotM (Kulu, Bents, Royal) and one of the best defenders in the league in Romero.
With Perisic, Lenglet, Bissouma, Forster, and Spence on the bench. And Richarlison suspended.

And the average age of those players we actually parted money with for is 23.5, so we're looking long term with them as well.

The 'painful' rebuild wasn't quite as painful as we were led to believe.

Top marks to the academy staff at IF Brommapojkarna for nurturing this amazing talent from an early age.

I can't believe how good he looks. It's insane. I said last season and I'll say it again; definitely get Robben vibes from how he plays. You can't stop him.

I'm just echoing what has already been said, but his speed of thought is incredible. As soon as the ball is at his feet he is alive and attacking instantly. He doesn't give defenders any time to think. I think he deceptively fast with the ball at his feet, he was wonderful balance and a good turn of pace.

And he just can't seem to deliver a bad ball with that left.

Richarlison has his work cut out.

Graeme Souness is a fan. He was just asked on Talksport about who in the EPL he would love to play with and he said De Bruyne. Then went on to say, “Kulusevski at Spurs. Watch him. I think he’s De Bruyne-esque and he’s 22”.

Not sure what Richarlison has to do with Deki…

I just assume out of our front 3, Kulu and Richarlison may be in and out more than Son and Kane would. You'd be thinking Richarlison's best route to the starting 11 would be at the expense of Kulu. A nice problem to have.
