Having seen how lost Davies looked in the first half at Palace, I’d argue that:

a) another LB is a high priority in January; and
b) Emerson is probably our primary backup now for both full-back positions until we address a).

As things stand, the drop off from Udogie to literally any other option at LB for us is frightening.

This is solved by a good CB backup I think as VDV can play effectively as a LB if required. He did it in Germany and as we know his pace is frightening.

Davies was not fit against Palace, he wasn’t involved at Fulham and is out of the Chelsea game. He’s looked fine there in other games this season.

I wouldn't say he's 50/50 for Monday then, I think more like a 20% chance he plays tbh. Even a minor ankle ligament sprain really needs minimum 2 weeks to recover and then going back to full load straight away wouldn't be adviseable.

Anyway Emerson has done ok filling in at LB and with Bissouma available I think overall we will be ok but obviously no Destiny is a shame and will be a loss.

I can't see us signing another LB in Jan mate, I think the focus will be a CB and a midfielder but I do agree that Davies like Dier is a huge huge drop-off in their respective positions and so both need upgrading, however with no Europe I think we will muddle through with Emerson covering RB and LB for now, also when is Sess back as he might actually suit that role as a back-up but also his shop has probably sailed.

I do agree a better back-up LB should be a reasonably high priority but unfortunately I can't see us addressing that in Jan or getting rid of enough players to free up space to make a signing in that area in Jan.

Rather than guessing percentages maybe just take what Ange said at face value and wait and see if he makes it or not.

We are in good form, so no need to risk him. Yes, he is critical to how we play, but I hate this habit of rushing players back; it always comes back to bite you in the arse. Sometimes you just have to give time for people to heal.

Udogie is such a given first choice that I fear any pure left back we sign will rot on the bench.
Think we'd be better with versatile players covering him (CBs, RBs), like they in many ways do at City who has a smaller squad than ours.

Good shout. Can Lloyd Kelly cover CB and LB. I know VDV can play LB also so another top CB signed early in Jan could solve 2 birds with 1 stone so to speak.

If he misses out, then we may as well rest him vs Wolves too & let him fully recover over the IB.
no if he rests against Chelsea he has to play against Wolves.

Wolves match will be a war, it always is and we need every bit of firepower to walk away from that match with 3 points.
