But Davies worries me against Neto. He struggled massively for pace against ayew at palace and we had to move emerson there. Neto is a lot quicker than ayew
yep. Burnt repeatedly by Mbeumo at home last season as well. Good job we now have VDV on the cover!

Underrated on the ball though is our Ben. Think he’ll be fine in that sense.

Not such an issue with VdV covering behind. It's not ideal, but the best way to stop Neto is to cut off the supply to him.

Udogie and Porro both out for tomorrow's game:

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou on injuries picked up by defenders Destiny Udogie and Pedro Porro: "We've had a couple of setbacks. Destiny [Udogie] picked up a knock last week, jarred his knee a bit, and he's not available for tomorrow but I don't think it's anything too serious.

"Pedro [Porro] picked up a sort of strain in training. Fair to say he'll be missing tomorrow. Probably a couple of weeks for him. With game break hopefully he doesn't miss too many. Probably the major one for us is [reserve goalkeeper] Fraser Forster who has a fracture in his foot and he will probably miss conservatively a couple of months. Coming back it's the same as last week."

This is where VdV excels though. Its his side and as quick as Udogie is he's often caught upfield anyway. The key is to press high and leave Wolves to counter because VdV will then cover the counter of Neto.

What rubbish.
We play an incredibly dynamic and highly agile way of playing football.
Ange has alluded to this, in the first year he’s going to run everyone until they break a bit….and then by Year 2 the conditioning team can find the fragility in player’s physiological systems and help build stronger bodily systems.
It’s a long term project and has got ZERO to do with jinxes or luck.

We’re finding the weakness in everyone’s systems and mindsets and then we’re filling them in, building stronger…..for all eventualities. Long term.
I’m not sure why some people are ridiculing my post.
Probably just a lack of insight and awareness. Or complete ignorance.

From The Athletic article:
‘Clearly, this is not coincidental. Especially as, during his 2021-22 debut season as Celtic, Postecoglou’s squad were plagued by the same issue. By the mid-December, the Scottish Premiership side already had six players sidelined with hamstring problems.

Postecoglou said at the time that, “(the hamstring injuries) are obviously something we want to get on top of but it’s not new to me either. The way we play, I understand — and have done at the clubs I’ve been at — that the beginnings are always difficult. We play differently and train differently and it takes players time to adjust to that, and along the way we obviously pay a price.

“But the one thing I’ve never done, and I won’t do in my whole career, is compromise the football team we want to be because we are not quite ready to be there. I’d rather keep going at the pace we are going and it means we are going to have some casualties along the way.”

The whole article is here, for those lacking the necessary insight.
Injuries are going to be part of our first season under Ange.

Also badly miss Solomon and sess and forster and (insert here) whoever else is not available
Well when you're missing both first choice full backs and key parts of the system in favour of two players that were playing Cb a month ago I think you're gonna feel it.

Mate, a funny rating, I gave you one for the original post, doesn't always equate to ridicule. I agreed with the point you were making about Ange's approach, but I just found some inadvertent humour in the way you expressed it. Happens to all of us. It's what makes the forum fun.

It was your last line "We’re finding the weakness in everyone’s systems and mindsets and then we’re filling them in, building stronger…..for all eventualities. Long term."

It reminded me of the intro to Six Million Dollar Man..."We can rebuild him. We have the technology. We can make him better, stronger, faster..."

Is that a painful rebuild? And when you've rebuilt him, will you laugh with him or at him? 😜

Bit quiet yesterday and once again too many unnecessary and silly fouls. First game after his injury but not the impact we have come to expect from him.

Athletically and physically he is probably the most imposing and dominant full back in the world. The drive and engine. The willingness and ability to receive the ball in awkward situations. So smooth technically. Intelligent is an understatement with how he moves in the final third. That cross in the first half is something I want to see more of. That variety of delivery is an attribute that he can improve. But a freight train at LB, world class talent.
