Anybody here have Liverpools fullbacks down as great buys when they signed them?
Thought not.
Not saying he would be amazing but he clearly has talent.

Say what you've heard. Third-party hearsay is just often just hearsay.
Objection, hearsay.

Neil Warnock has a vast amount of experience, and even knew how to handle the likes of Taarabt and various other talented 'dickheads' that have existed in the game.

He said this about him going off on loan to Forest, when he was asked about it on Talksport:

MIddlesbrough want him gone. That's telling us something.

He's very likely to be one of those that people will get a hard-on for, then will criticise the club when it turns out they have the mental strength of a 10 year old

That sounds like great management by Warnock to me. He’s sent him loan to a manager he trusted to get the best out of him in Cooper. He has and now he’s being linked with a move to us. If that’s all accurate then Spence should be thanking him for helping him at a major turning point in his career.

From what Cooper says there’s been no problems there. Obviously moving to us and London is a gigantic step up but if the price is reasonable then it is worth the risk. I’m just not 100% certain he should be coming in as first choice and I can’t believe conte thinks that either.

I personally called Trent becoming one of the best fullbacks in the world when he signed for liverpool at aged 6 but that’s just me

I know nothing about him but if he's got the talent and the physical atrributes i can't think of a better coach than Conte to mould him into the ultimate WB.

Basically everyone associated with his parent club. Fans, Manager, local media. Even now, they're happy for him to be sold.

So odd seeing people spend the last year or so reflecting on Ndombele, but casually dismissing the analysis of another player with the same aura of issues

But ndombele has always had motivation and fitness issues. It doesn’t sound the same with this guy. I mean, I’ve never been to Middlesbrough, maybe he just didn’t like it there.

Undecided on this one, looks to have all the tools, but attitude a concern, see NDonbele, dont need another one of those, so need due diligence before signing to ensure we are getting the real deal and not another waste of space.

Such as who for right wing back? There simply aren't many top options out there in this position. Nearly every option is a gamble and here are the stats for RWBs we have been linked to or are potentially on the market:

League only
Frimpong (22 years old) 6 assists
Spence (21 years old) 4 assists
Singo (21 years old) 4 assists
Dumfries (26 years old) 4 assists
Lamptey (21 years old) 2 assists
Maehle (25 years old) 1 assist

Funnily enough that order would probably be the order I'd go for them in preference.
I like the look of Knauff on loan to Frankfurt from Dortmund. Not sure he would be gettable though.

Warnock has always been a good man-manager. Some of the stories of his QPR players, and how he handled them, are great examples. Redknapp was similar.

However, I expect Warnock would get a tune out of Tanguy too. He'd make him captain, tell him he was amazing, and I'm sure he'd pay dividends. The issue is, that isn't how Conte works - he has never been compatible with that kind of player, and there's a large pile of players of that ilk who he's been happy to simply not pick or move on.

I don’t remember them having any questions over their past attitudes etc. However, my main concern is he is not yet the quality needed as a starter for prem or champs league.

Interesting article here... Specifically the following extract:-
Having been handed his chance in the Middlesbrough team by Jonathan Woodgate, Spence looked very promising, and his pace was causing Championship defences all sorts of problems.

“However, as soon as news of Tottenham’s interest in him surfaced, Boro never saw that promising player again.

“His attitude looked off and there were countless occasions when he was caught moseying back to the halfway line like he was on a lazy Sunday morning jog than actually busting a gut to help out his teammates.

I’ve done a little research and digging on Spence and the supposed attitude problems.
And from my understanding it looks like it’s misunderstood.

He’s actually a very laid back character, nonchalant, a little reserved.
Maybe that’s where the confusion is.

Watch some of his interviews, especially the ones where he signed for Forest last summer, even on the message boards Forest fans were complaining about his lack of enthusiasm.

The incident with Heckinbotham last week on the side sums that up. Takes a ball to the mid-drift and a brawl ensues. Spence looks like hes just been told a fairly average joke. Hes a young man who will mature and im sure develop into a great player.

In the short term I don't think is attitude will be an issue. He'll be coming into a tight, hardworking group of players, managed by a charismatic frenzied lunatic, as a young inexperienced player who will know that he'll have to knuckle down and work for his place and to earn respect.

Maybe in the long term it'll be a problem, but who knows, he's young, people change and get changed by others. I don't think comparisons to Ndombele are right. Tanguay came as a big signing who'd already 'made it', into a group of players whose discipline and energy were melting down. It's much more likely that someone will lazy or drift on those circumstances

I think if you work for Conte your attitude fucks off pretty quickly or you do. And if it’s you that fucks off the football world notices and the questions it raises means you may not get the chance at the top level again

It's OK IMO to sign super talents with potential issues provided you do two things:
1. Maintain quality depth at their position so they're forced to compete, or you can sit them without issue;
2. By all means, refrain from giving them stupid contracts as incentive. Give yourself room to cut your losses if there are problems.

This is the only one of the potential signings where I feel it’s a little underwhelming. Is he really ready to play and make an impact for a CL side?
