After reading the last couple of pages I think I'll just clear a couple of things up. I posted a while back Spence was not Conte's pick, I also posted that there were players Conte had changed his mind about over the back end of the season. Players he initially thought were not up to it and had earmarked to go had changed his mind with their attitude and performances under pressure.

He wasn't overly bothered about bringing in a RWB at all, and I know that will go against the opinion of 90% of the board but he felt with a pre season and coaching he was happy with what we had, and he targeted other area's for improvement over this position. Don't get me wrong, neither Doc or Royal are untouchable by any stretch and if a good offer came in I'm sure we wouldn't be adverse to moving one on and bringing in an upgrade. Fact is though as I keep saying the budget is finite and there are a lot of area's he wanted to improve us, he just didn't see RWB as as important as other positions.

That doesn't mean He's not happy to have him here or didn't want him etc, but as I said it was a compromise from him to get the HG quota in check with very little downside.
Love that insight thanks mate, top man.

I hope this also helps cut through the sensationalist headlines where they spin contes quotes saying “Conte didn’t want Spence” or “Spence not contes pick” because as we know the first is not true and the latter is oversimplifying the situation and leaving out the important extra information and context.

As you’ve said all along the budget is finite and so it’s all a fluid puzzle. Interesting to see which other pieces of the puzzle ? conte has earmarked, from ITK and rumours it still seems like he wants an AM and likely another CB. If we get those 8 he should be pretty happy with that and be able to do good things with a very strong squad.

Nice little article about Spence and Sessegnon reuniting at Spurs after playing together in the Fulham youth teams. Having them on either side of the defence really does remind me of Rose and Walker

I hope that connection really helps them push each other. Sess comes across as someone who doesn't have the same confidence with us as he had at Fulham. I hope that with Djed around it will help lift his confidence.

It seems like people are dividing this up into three separate entities, the club, Paratici and Conte which is nonsense.
If the club "scouted" Spence it doesn't mean "the club" told Paratici to buy him it means they told Paratici about him and it went from there. Conte decides who plays but he doesn't know everything about every player so every player we buy doesn't have to have been brought to the table by him. As long as he's happy with players identified by the club that's what matters.
Personally I think Spence is going to play his way into the side over the other two.

Did Spence come on today? My go-to live service claims he was subbed om at 70 minutes, but I’ve not seen any mention of him here.

Got a short run out. Made a couple of good tackles, but our attacking play after he came on was quite poor and he never really got a chance to show us what he's got going forwards.

He did. Took up some good positions, but played quite safe.

There was one bad ball that gave Rangers a chance, but I hope we see a lot more of him.

Quite impressed with Spence today. Spence needs to be playing with Kulusevski more so he can show how good is he going forward. Gil in the name of pressing was all over the place - couldn't link with Richarlison or Spence.

Also, that first tackle/interception inside our box to prevent a goal.....Even Romero acknowledged it with a thumps up.

Yeah I noticed Romero giving him the thumbs up. All though Romero is still young, he’s a leader and it was good to see him giving encouragement. He’s also very important to helping Spence settle when playing due to being the closest defender to him.

Yeah - I thought Spence was not helped by being paired with Bryan - two relative newcomers, with no time together. A few moments where they struggled to understand each other, and who to cover.

But, for me, a good solid debut - showed a bit of his strengths.

What did I tell you about our lad?

#QuotesHimselfWanker

Watched quite a lot of Forest’s games and this lad is very talented. He’s very, very good in one on one situations defensively and in attack. Has so much pace and power, he defends a little like van Dijk. In the sense that you think “come on, put the after-burners on” but he doesn’t need to. He steps across to cut out crosses with ease. Certainly in the championship anyway. Interesting to see if he gets caught out in the PL but he has all the attributes to be an outstanding wing back.

Hope I am wrong but I don’t think Conte has any plans for him this year barring an injury. This was perfect game to give him a few minutes.
