He was actually quite good defensively today.

No he fucking wasn't. Being quite good defensively doesn't just mean getting your body in the way, but also being able to help relieve some of the pressure on the defence by holding the ball well and finding your own team mate with a pass, neither of which he is capable of.

There is a reason teams target him, and it's not because he is good defensively.

Quite taken aback by the comments as he was solid but did nothing going forward. I expected to see the Sess thread this high not Royal.
It was another game where Sess did no better but Emerson gets all the criticism.

It's because at least sometimes Sess offers a threat. Emerson consistently is a black hole for our attacks. Sess also doesn't get a free pass by Conte and is consistently rotated for a player that is equal or better than him.

Sure, Sess wasn't great either but has shown glimpses of understanding what Conte needs from his wingbacks. What is trippy to me is how identical their stats are under Conte. Royal edges Sess in appearance but both really need to improve their output.

Does he offer more a threat than Emerson? He's just as wasteful. I'm sure Emerson will rotate with Doherty now he's fit.

The most frustrating thing about him, is he actually get's into decent positions during the game, but then has no end product to take advantage

This is true. Its not even like he sometimes delivers some quality in the final 3rd, he is physically incapable offering anything going forward.

Teams allow Emerson time and space because they know he can’t deliver , it’s a tactic all sides have used against us this season .

Definitely. Emerson was fine yesterday. Sessgnon was a disgrace as usual. He just offers nothing. Weak in defence, loses every header, overhits every cross, makes every wrong decision. Does it virtually every game. Gets hardly any criticism.

there is no worse sight than emerson and sanchez next to each other on the teamsheet. I didn't expect it to be hugo clangers that cost us but as soon as you see those two together you know it's going to be an uphill battle. Probably our two worst signings of all time value for money wise and we've had lo celso and Ndombele but at least they could control a ball.

I don't know why he doesn't practice crossing after training for an hour every day, get the video team to make him a video of great crossers, what is this expensive coaching set up doing?

But of course it wasn't a problem with Kulu there because he would always just give him the ball- that was the Royal Renaissance period last season...

Sessegnon was poor yesterday, but you are being ridiculously hyperbolic about him. He was man of the match against Brighton only a couple of weeks ago.

His consistency is certainly something he needs to improve upon, as is often the case with young players. But he's had plenty of excellent games for us.

I'll never understand why so many posters on here are determined to just shit on our players whenever they can. Player threads are full of people just abusing our players, calling them shite and a disgrace etc

God knows what some of you would be like if we were actually having a bad season.

I've defended Emerson in the post you quoted and defended him many times this year, the same with Doherty when many were calling him crap. I have also praised Sessegnon when he has had good games, but they are about 2 or 3 in 10. He isn't good enough. His performance yesterday was indicative of most of his games. There is no determination from me to shit on him at all, I am just pointing out he isn't good enough and never will be. It is plain to see. Time and again he makes the same mistakes in defence and attack if you actually watch him.
