Not enough love for this guys second half. Sure his first half was ropy as fuck but to come back from that, never drop his head, never once HIDE, and just keep on going and going and rise to the challenge the manager gave him is top top drawer mentality.

Just got better as the game went on and stepped up when Biss fucked it and was subbed.

Haaland in his pocket :ROFLMAO:

An obvious liability in the first half — but mad respect for this guy again and again. Plays the role he’s given and doesn’t shirk (even if it doesn’t always happen for him or come off).

Strong second half. Whole team grew in confidence. Will be nice to get Romero back there now but he’s been fine.

I've great respect for Emerson. Every time he's begun to adapt to a new position we've had to ask him to do something else that he's never done. First he had to change from a RB to a WB, then it's in a back three as a RCB, then back to RB but inverted to the extent that he's almost an AM, then injuries have forced him to cover LB (but inverted!) then he's playing straight-up CB against Erling Haaland (accompanied by the also out-of-position Ben Davies).

And now with Romero returning he'll be 'dropped' back to the bench to cover for Porro, or rotating again at LB with Udogie.

I appreciate the commitment, even if he never seems wholly comfortable wherever he's asked to play.

Just out of interest why was he an obvious liability?

I mean, just off the top of my head we should have been 2-1 down moments after they equalised because he gave the ball away passing out from the back. Fortunately, Haaland missed the first of his sitters.

It doesn’t suit his skillset and got us in a lot of trouble.

Ah ok, didn’t really think about that, thought defending wise he was ok 1st half

Such a weird footballer felt like he was match fixing most of the game but yet he also does somethings so good you think there is potential there 🤣

And now with Romero returning he'll be 'dropped' back to the bench to cover for Porro, or rotating again at LB with Udogie.

He's a limited player sure but a good one. He's good enough such that him being a rotation option at RB won't stop us winning a league title. If he can find a club where he will play RB in a 4-2-3-1 or 442 system though he will look top class. Conte should have played him at RCB when Porro was brought in.

..and that's what we do when we defend. 4-4-2.
He's done his job in the inverted role also really well. I saw glimpses of that even last season under Conte.

On more than one occasion he showed too much of the ball trying to stride forward and lost it to a City player. It's the consequence of him not being polished on the ball in general but more noticeable out of position. He can do that at RB and get away with it since it is a narrow space. If he overruns the ball on the right flank it might just go out for a throw in. But at CB he overruns the ball and he's got someone coming at him at all angles.

I think he picked up far better in the second half that said. When it comes to making blocks and interceptions he was good.
