Let's be real , he is no worse than Dier, Davies, Sanchez or Sessegnon but gets so much abuse. I mean to the extent where people moan as soon as he has his first touch in a match. To the extent of calling him some of the worst insults they can think. Its beyond pathetic. He worked hard again today and actually unlucky with his effort off the post. He will always lack in the final third but the hate is embarrassing and just shameful.

Feels like this is a wider problem with the fan base as we love to show our negativity to anything we are not happy with.

Has any ground in the league had as much booing as we’ve had this season? I obviously see much more of Spurs than any other team but it does feel ridiculous at times.

We booed Nuno for the Lucas sub against Man United last season which many felt was the final straw in his sacking, and in the next home game in the League (with Conte in charge) there was booing at half time against Leeds.

We are currently booing/negatively chanting towards Levy to try and influence the ownership of the club.

From this it doesn’t really surprise me that some fans also try and influence team selection decision by booing individual players.

I wouldn’t personally do any of the above but it all comes from fans perceived right to voice their discontent as they please.

Every time Royal or Sessegnon get into a crossing position, 9 times out 10 they (a) take an absolute age to deliver the ball and then (b) hit it straight into an opposition defender. So depressing.

He's not good enough and hopefully we can get him out somewhere this window, but I agree he's no worse than Sanchez or Sessegnon. I would rate Davies, Doherty and Dier slightly higher but not by far. The only defenders I have clear of him are Romero, Lenglet and Perisic. So although I feel the criticism is justified (regardless of his age he's never going to be of the required standard IMO), he does get more stick than some of the others who are no better. Sessegnon is a huge disappointment for me, he's just not kicked on and when Udogie comes in, I don't think he will get a sniff. I rate Udogie that highly and think he will cement his place pretty quickly.

I think he's a bit of a victim of the DJed Spence situation in that Spence never gets to play and people can't understand why.
It's not like Royal, or Doherty for that matter, ever set the world alight and so keep him out, the boos against Villa were, I think, a reflection that we didn't bring him on as much as that we did bring on Royal.
Emerson is a better player now than when he came and he's never let us down in his effort not ever, but like most people I don't see that he fits in our wing back system and if I'm honest I think our standard ought to be higher nowadays.

The whole club is a mess, on & off the pitch ??‍♀️

The hate against him feels so forced at this point. Just people being spiteful for the sake of it. Yeah we know he's not Dani Alves, hardly his fault is it? Besides, seems to have a common issue of this squad where the positives are overlooked (him being why we got back into the game against Marseille) and the negatives become their definition.

Not sure you can really class Perisic as a defender though - in the past yes, but now his main attributes are when of offensive not defensive

I actually felt almost a sense of relief his effort didn't go in yesterday. It was like the fans didn't know how to react when he hit the post.

I know a lot of people are piling in on him and this may add to it but one thing's for sure, I don't want him selected to be matched up against Martinelli for the NLD, that was a complete mismatch, he got rinsed and was so frustrated at being constantly embarassed by him, he lashed out at got a debatable red which clearly turned the game in the last NLD at their place.

I expect Doherty to start, he seems to be first choice again as he was before injury.

I gotta give it to him. This guy has some stones. Yes he's been terrible and was again in this game but I can't stand the groans when his name is read out or when he gets the ball, and yet despite this he keeps showing for it, he keeps trying things and he keeps smiling. It takes a strong character to do that in front of tens of thousands expressing their annoyance. If Sess had half of his mental strength we might have a player. But he doesn't and we just have 2 poor wing backs.

I actually think Emerson was pretty good in the second half on Saturday. Everyone around me in the stadium is always so negative about him, but he was so much better than Sess in that game, and those same people are so willing to give him a chance. I like Royal - he clearly has his limitations going forward but keeps putting himself out there and you can't fault his effort or mindset.

I blame Harry Winks. If he was still here they'd have to be sharing the hate around instead of giving it all to Emerson.

People actually said it was a shit header.....I was right behind it, he got up well and headed back across goal....the correct thing to do
No one then gave Skipp stick for an even bigger miss
The abuse is as you say pathetic.
