I think the combination of Emerson and Porro gives us real flexibility to respond to different teams. It would be nice to have another RWB as cover but I guess Conte sees that as Lucas till the end of the season.
Not sure if we need 3 rwb's, we can't have 3 players for every position.
I think Porro and Royal will do just fine.

You have a point but the levels of toxicity have reached new levels this season. Royal wasn't getting booed and jeered by our own 'supporters' last season, while in the midst of a top 4 title charge. The general mood of the fanbase, and subsequently the treatment of Royal is very different this season.
I think the jeering this season was directly linked with the lack of opportunities offered to Djed Spence. It was an attempt to sway Conte into removing ER from the team and promoting Spence. It's not Emerson's fault that he kept getting picked and the fans didn't want to boo Conte so they tried to engineer what they wanted by going this route. I have been to enough matches this season to hear that there was a lot of Anti-Royal Pro-Spence chatter going on.

What?! Henry scored 17 goals in the prem in his first season and 26 in all competitions.

Also Royal has certainly had a chance. He's a good RB, he's not a natural RWB. Which isn't his fault he's been playing a role he's not suited to. But I have a hard time re-writing history on this guy based off a few games.

I like him, but not in this system. Games like City are few and far between.
He scored 1 in his first 12 games and I remember most people were already calling him a flop. Even at the end of the season, people were saying he just had a purple patch scoring against teams that had nothing to play for and were already at the beach and used the fact that he had only once previous scored more than 4 goals in one league season out of 6.

There's a difference between calling out the poor displays, and the dogs abuse he's been getting on here and everywhere else. It is very hypocritical to say "he's the worst full back to ever play for us, can't wait for him to fuck off" and then say a few weeks later they are glad we kept him over Doc for instance. VERY hypocritical.
Absolutely this. The abuse he gets is horrendous, especially given the mistakes made by his team mate on the other wing.

Actually, Henry was considered a flop after his first 10 games and then he just went beast mode

Another solid performance from Emerson tonight. One of the few bright sparks in recent weeks. Porro has a bit of a fight on his hands. I think Porro will be a great signing but he's going to have to be patient.

Porro should be playing RM with Kulu’s form atm

Such a mature performance tonight. Shut Leao down and was constantly trying clever passes to open up the defence.

Porro’s arrival has lit a fire in him clearly. Hope it continues

Good again. Defo worth keeping especially as our next manager might want to play 4atb. He'd excel there.

He has been better than most give him credit for a while now.
He was looking bright before Porro came in, but since that week before the end of the window onwards it looks like it’s finally clicked.

Feels a bit like the Sissoko transformation, hard work and perseverance finally paying off and turning into results on the pitch.

Yep, can see him staying and offers a good defensive option, clearly Porro will be the one starting most games as he can attack and that's what we desperately need on the wings.

Really depends what you want from your RWB, Emerson was good again but he really wasn’t a threat and we are struggling to create chances and our WBs aren’t producing which given our formation they need to be.

It's not sacrilege to call out the many appalling displays from Royal previously and equally it's not hypocritical to praise the improvement and mental fortitude he's shown recently either.

Nothing more frustrating than nauseating "I told you so" fans.
Except he was never ever as bad as you made out. It was a psychotic episode the way the myth of how bad Emerson Royal apparently was. And it's not surprising those who engaged in it don't want to acknowledge it because to do so would mean acknowledging how badly they performed as a football fans.

He played like he belonged in a CL round of 16 match tonight. Composure and decision making was spot on while in possession and defensively solid as usual. Been very impressed with him lately, really hope he keeps it up as he’s such a likeable guy!
