Emerson Royal on his Father/Agents comments:

"Although he is entitled to his own opinion, I have never spoken to him about it and I have always made it clear that I am happy at Tottenham.

I am proud to represent the team that believed in me and gave me the opportunity to showcase my skills."

Like I said, his father is a different fella.

Me suspects his old man had one Cachaca too many and spilt the beans...🥳

No probably about it, he is a very capable RB.

I've said this so so many times on here that RWB and RB are NOT the same position at all.
I must admit I thought this was a misguided idea going by how bad he seemed technically until the last 3-4 months or so, I thought that he seemed a flat out bad footballer and a no more than decent defender, but I have to now say that you and others that were banging this drum were spot on. I’d be pretty enthused to see how he does as defensive RB and he was quality before his injury, terrible timing

Emerson really is a class act, and he always seems upbeat - all the more disappointing that our fans gave him such abuse.

Thanks mate yea if we play a back 4 next season we should do everything to keep him as our n.o 1 RB.

Issue is we just spent £45mil on Porro a specialist RWB and £20mil on young Spence 😅🤷‍♂️

If I was Djed Spence I would be looking at Porros early performances thinking, I’ve still got a chance here.

I've been waiting to see Emerson in the RCB role as I always thought he had the perfect attributes for the role and he was superb today, kept Zaha very quiet, good positionally and comfortable in possession. Would love to see him stay there for the final games. Romero also seems to suit CCB better too.

Apparently we haven’t kept a clean sheet since he’s been out and by magic he comes back with one 👏

RCB behind Porro/RWB is the way forward. He offers protection but also knows the WB role and can link up with that player.

Hear me out here, DEFENSIVELY I’m struggling to name almost any RB in the prem era we’ve had who is as solid as him.

Brilliant.

If we can play Royal RCB, and Romero CCB, then we can really go all out for a starting LCB in the transfer market. We’ll need another CB that can play several roles, but Royal’s performance was promising.
