If we sell Emerson this window then you can 100% guarantee that Pedro's hamstring will go pop on February 2nd.

Really important player to the squad and I wouldn't sell him other than for ridiculous money and only then if we have a replacement lined up.

Feel like Emerson’s rapping career is probably going to get stifled in Saudi

As others say - hard to put a price on good training ground Bantz so would keep him for that alone

It would be such an unnecessary risk to sell now. One injury to Porro and we'd be screwed at RB. He can also do a decent shift at LB and CB too.

Maybe one for the Summer if he wants to go and we can get decent money, but you need good squad players like Emerson.

Wow he’s certainly turned it around. Before a vast majority wanted him sold and now it’s the opposite.

Likes Erik Lamela, deal with it.

Yeah he has proved himself a valuable squad player but having said that, some of us would still be open to selling him if we were offered a ton of cash.

Didn't Emerson spend about a million pounds of his own money to improve his game since he has been at Spurs - I think his overall attitude, especially as a squad player, is incredible. He is obviously a very popular part of the team too. Having such a versatile squad member with such a great mentality is bloody rare. Surely only an insane offer would be considered during this window

I really like Emerson as a character in the dressing room and how he's been able to cover multiple positions this season. However, I can't help but think this thread would look a lot different if we'd had an injury crisis at fullback the way we've had in other positions this season.

Emerson is IMO the player in the squad who is the least suited to Ange style of football. The way we play he is the 5th furthest forward, without having the necessary skill set to effectively contribute to our attacks. The same goes for LB and at CB he's now going to be 5th choice.

I'd be open to let Emerson go if we get a high value bid and if we can sign a fullback that can play as an 'Ange FB' on the right and left.

Edit: @BorjeSpurs summed up what i was trying to say below while I was typing my post.

It has been touched on in this thread, but is Emerson really an Ange system attacking right back (which Porro definitely is) or more an Ange system defensive centre back?

My point in this is while he is great versatility defensively, is he really the kind of right back Ange would want to play long term if Porro was out.

I don't personally know the answer to that, but we will know if he is sold, Ange probably doesn't think he is the type of right back he wants long term and he also thinks have enough depth in central defence without him.

In saying that, I personally agree with most people on here that I definitely wouldnt sell him this window, unless we get big money, or more specifically to my above point that Ange is happy with letting him go.

However selling him may be a different story in the summer transfer window.

If Ange is happy and the money's right, move him on. Pretty clear he's not going to be a regular starter, and it's not like we don't have cover.

What cover? I don’t think we have any other senior right backs at the club right now other than Porro and Emerson?

If we can get a replacement with the right skill set and character then potentially, if the bid was big enough.

The above has so many “ifs” it makes it highly unlikely.

If, and it is a massive IF, Emerson is sold this window, Ange must definitely have a plan.

You would hope so, and I am sure Ange is always thinking about potential targets to improve the squad, but look at what we did with Sanchez. We sold him and waited until the following window to bring in badly needed cover.

I wouldn’t rule out doing the same with Emerson this window if we receive a good enough offer. In the long term it may be the right solution but it could also cost us points in the short term.

Anyway, it’s all hypothetical at the moment. But we do have history of leaving the squad one or two players short.

Huge fan of Royal the person, as in the immensely impressive character he’s shown after being booed off by his own home fans. And apparently he’s a bright presence in the group as well. His professionalism cannot be questioned or ignored.

Never been a huge fan of Royal the footballer. He has very obvious limits - whatever the system or position in it.

But to sell now would be madness. With Davies out and Sess seemingly never able to get injury free and fit, we will need him as cover for both Porto and Udogie, as well as he has shown he can put in a shift as a right CB too.

Only way we should sell him now is if we have someone lined up that can replace before him the end of the window.

Maybe one for the summer?

I don't think upgrading him should be high on the to do list currently but hypothetically if there was an obvious opportunity then it might change things. For example come summer 23 year old Jeremie Frimpong will have a 34 mil release clause become active. 5 goals and 7 assist this season and I'm assuming he would count as HG seeing as he came through the Man City academy. Although he wouldn't be able to cover CB as a RB I think he would suit our system better then Royal. Anyway thats just an example. As i've said before we certainly shouldn't sell him now and even in summer unless there is a clearly available target Ange really likes who wants to come and wouldn't cost the world then we shouldn't be focusing on RB.
