The stick you used to get was repulsive. I’m glad Coco is proving those twats wrong.
The problem is (well, actually, it's been a solution, not a problem) that these morons have stopped returning to SC. Either that, or they had to return under another pseudonym to avoid having to appear in this thread with their tail between their legs.

At least some of the harsher critics have given props where due - @piedpiper clearly doesn't rate him and, whilst his praise is faint at best, he does occasionally post something positive. Others simply outright refused to acknowledge anything Lamela did once they'd made up their (tiny) minds.

The same people who hate Lamela are probably the one who rated Sherwood...
Never hated Lamela but thought that he was not that good his first couple of years. He did not make runs in the box his first two years. I would still like to see him, when playing wide, get to the end line more and cut the ball across but I have to say he is definitely showing more to his game this year. He seems to be maturing as a player and am glad he is doing it with the Spurs instead of somewhere else.

Thought Coco put in a very good shift last night, he was constantly pulling the strings in midfield, and it says something that City needed to constantly foul him to stop us from breaking on them. Thought he was unlucky not to score and level the game too.

He really seems to be at the races this year.

Agree with this, first half especially. He really seems to be using his body well and the big improvement for me is that he is becoming a lot more direct with the ball. Did seem to fade second half however, but to be expected after all of his injuries. Key player for us now.

Improved physical conditioning seems to have given him that little extra acceleration so he can beat people now . Something he enjoyed in the slower Italian league

He's also alot bigger than the waif we signed originally

Pity he didn’t put away his chance, would’ve been the icing on the cake on another good performance. Due to the miss some people will focus on that instead of the positives.

I was fuming when he missed that then saw the replay and thought actually that ball was bobbling loads so I’ll let him off.

It definitely was bobbling but if you still keep yourself over the ball you can keep it on the ground. I certainly understand the mistake, but still would expect better from him.

I see what he was trying to do but his body shape seemed all wrong no? I mean he was leaning back etc.

Yeah I think that’s fair. He should’ve been that bit more focussed and compensated for the bobbling.

He had time to take a touch before shooting..but the way he's been playing lately his confidence got the better of him. Better players than lamela have made far worse misses. It's just a shame it happened in a key game..

He's done great this year..dragged the team forward

Was he fouled a lot? To my eyes he was, but Kevin "Twatface" Friend didn't see a damn thing.
