And what was the reason for that in your opinion?

Way I see it it could be any of:

1) He’s been instructed to play like (unlikely tbf)
2) Not 100% fit
3) Hes confused about how he’s being instructed to play
4) Hes not really trying (either consciously or subconsciously (could be not playing for the manager, could be personal stuff off the pitch or could even be general morale/confidence in the team

I’m every season Dele and Lamela have both been at the club, Dele has outperformed Lamela both on scoring and creating league goals.

Lamela and Dele (also remembering that Lamela arrived from serie a, Dele arrived from league 1, and is 4 years younger) have played 162 and 160 league games respectively. In those games Lamela has scored 16 and made 23, Dele has scored 50 and made 33.

You can talk sit playing styles all you want, at the end of the day they occupy the same party of the pitch. For all that you might say Lamela is more involved and better off the ball etc, these guys both occupy 1 of 3 or 4 positions in the final third, and Lamela being unable to release the ball in time or make a decision of far more frustrating to me than Dele making a daft flick that doesn’t work. One contributes to goals that win games, one doesn’t, so it is amazing that the one who doesn’t seems to be solidly in the managers reckoning and the one who does is being ostracised.

I’m not saying Dele is the answer to all our problems, but even at his worst he gives us far more than Lamela, so if he’s not the answer, Joe the fuck Lamela is I know not.

Was brilliant early on in this season, but ineffectual since coming back. Wycombe he was okay but last night's performance really bad. Hopefully he picks up, but it was definitely a weird choice to bring him on at HF when we had better options on the bench. Yep, hindsight 20/20 and all that...

I thought it looked like 3.
with the info coming out about the half time bust up, can imagine that it was hectic. He was often getting in others way.
but in all honestly I’ve come to the conclusion that lamela is not a tactical player. I think he’s much more instinctive. Problem is, he doesn’t link with his teammates. He didn’t play to a plan.

Love the guy, but he was totally the wrong sub last night.

Did nothing when he was on, which is strange cause normally he'd be kicking/pressing or something but he didn't really look arsed.

He does need to leave though.

lol, you guys have gone batshit crazy. Unleashing all of your frustration on a player who entered as a sub, in a match in which virtually not a single one of our players had a positive impact whatsoever (probably only Hojbjerg, with that wonder strike) and in which the coach absolutely made a very weird lineup and decided to play different to what had been working most of the season for who knows what reason (maybe he let himself become influenced by fans such as you, who kept asking for a more possession based style).

But sure, let's keep roasting Lamela, he's an easy target because he got covid some weeks ago and because he was just as ineffectual as the rest of his team mates on that night.

How does him having COVID (which was never confirmed to my knowledge) make him an easy target?

FFS defend the indefensible if you want, but remind me of one moment where he impacted the game in a positive way (as opposed to dribbling down blind alleys, getting in the way of his teammates and just generally trotting around the place). He didn’t even press as well as he usually does.

it’s got fuck all to with covid, and everything to do with the fact that he was the worst of all the players on pitch.

easy target.
