So you want to weaken the squad? A proven international vs an unproven championship player. Maybe in a couple of years Eze might get to be at Lamela’s level.

This is the logic used by managers of the ilk of Steve Bruce, Sam Allardyce, and Mark Hughes. You must be very confused when you see Sancho being mooted for prices well over 100 euros, and Peter Crouch goes for free to Burnley.

Dele was in first team action very, very soon so why can’t Eze follow in his footsteps?

The Key point here its not whether he cant or can, its whether Jose believes that or whether he feels that is a priority with the limited budget he as available. Its seems there are other key areas he wishes to enhance first which are more imperative. Even if he does like him he may feel it might be more wiser spend his limited budget in other places that will make the team more better off as a whole in the mean time. Its a tricky situation, as with with Lewis/ Levy, our managers hands are always tied to a more than a certain extent and the manager has to make executive himself with resources available he has at his disposal.

We’re only debating who ‘we’ think Spurs should buy.

Why in the Lamela thread?
Well it’s about selling Lamela in order to buy Eze.If you read previous posts in this thread you’ll see that a member suggested selling Lamela to fund Eze.That has initiated comments about doing that. One post simply said buy Coutinho. Hope that answers your question.

I bet he’s still here next season. With his injuries who is really going to risk paying what we’d want for him. You just know we’d put a ridiculous figure on his head. A loan and loan fee is probably our best bet if we want to move him on.

but we keep on hearing all this sell to buy bollocks. It won’t help with that unless it pays for a loan in.

We may need to sell to buy to get all of our targets but it doesn’t necessarily imply we’re just short of cash for our targets. It’s most likely a mixture of cash and creating space in the squad.

I know we’ve already sold KWP but he was out of the picture last season and we were reliant on Aurier and Tanganga (pre injury). Despite having these two available we’re still looking in bringing in 2 RB’s if Aurier departs... that implies the 2nd RB isn’t reliant on sales.

Likewise bringing in a 2nd striker won’t be reliant on sell to buy as we’ve no 2nd striker to sell lol.

Whereas to get a CB we would need to let Foyth go and likewise for an attacking midfielder we would need to let Lamela go.

Maybe next season but I absolutely cant see Lamela moving on. He's one of Jose's trusted players. I've also never seen a player look so average STARTING a match but when he comes on around the 70th minute, hes an absolute fucking shit house who seems to create lots for the team.

Personally if the argument is that Lamela takes up a non HG spot, i'd be looking to sell Gazzaniga first then bringing in someone like Joe Hart or Ben Foster
Speaking of hart, Apparently he was 33/1 a couple days ago now 1/2 odds on joining

If Sabitzer were true, you’d have to think a Ndombele/Winks sale would be in the works, right? Would absolutely love Sabitzer but why would he come to us right now?
