So the likes of Messi do but he doesn't?

South Florida for a South American is quite different than for a Frenchman... and the money Messi is making is quite a bit different than what Lloris would make.

(And everything I have read about Lloris is that he (and his family) is happy in London.)

I think Lloris has made enough money in his career to live a comfortable life - doing anything, or nothing. If Lloris had a burning desire to keep playing, he would have left last summer.

It depends whether he still has a desire to play. From what I could tell he turned down a move because there wasn't a plan in place for him. That sounds like he is willing to play if the right opportunity comes up.

What about Austin? Seems to be making the bench so I wonder if Forster is helping him be ready. Having him around must have a great influence on him. He's 24 now so it's got to happen soon or never. Maybe he will get an appearance off the bench in the FA Cup.
Lets be honest he's making the bench because of the number of senior players available, no other reason.

Not sure how that makes sense. Adding a 3rd keeper because we have senior outfield players out. If there was no future for him then surely we would just put an outfield academy prospect on the bench instead.

Mate he literally only picked 8 subs out of 9 against Villa because we have no one else available. No manager selects 3 keepers in a match day squad unless he's worried about his first choice keepers fitness, or because he has no one left to pick. It's 100% the latter why he's getting bench time right now.

I don't see how he's the only 1 to pick when there's an academy full of outfield players. He must be doing something right to be included in the squad that the rest aren't. The fact Ange didn't fill his sub quota proves he doesn't just pick players to fill the match day squad. He picks players on merit.

Again there was an academy full of outfield players when he only selected 8 subs, and left one space empty. He picked every available senior pro, simple as that.

I think ally gold said that he thinks it was more of ange sending a message to the hierarchy that we are so down to the bare bones he has to pick a third keeper, ie get me some more players.

i get your point that if he was naff, then ange wouldn't pick him, but i wouldn't also read into this as a statement that he is ready to step up.

He picked the likes of Donley, Dorrington and on Sunday Santiago so maybe he just picked the academy players who have impressed

Fractured his foot and out for several months. Wonder if that's season over.

Austin presumably the one to step up?
