I think if we want to truly compete with the top 2 we need to sign someone like Lo Celso to complement Eriksen and give us more goals and creativity in midfield. We were far too reliant on Eriksen to provide that last season and Lamela is too injury prone and inconsistent. Ndombele will (hopefully) help us creatively with his through balls but Lo Celso would give the real depth required to compete with Liverpool and City over the course of the season.

Ideally we would buy him to replace Lamela but I can't see anyone coming in for him, so as it stands I sadly think we won't sign Lo Celso unless Levy decides to go all out or Eriksen leaves.
I think Ndombele is more creative than people give him credit for but you're right. Lo Celso looks to be a superb player. Eriksen or no Eriksen we need to try and get him before we're talking about way over £100m.

maybe his copa america games have not been too impressive
No chance we base a 60 mil plus signing just on his Copa America performance. Personally think its just quiet since hes there so no rush to negotiate. Same as when Ndombele was at Euro qualifiers.

You seriously think we’d drop our interest based on a whole season (or more) because of a few games at a tournament where he hasn’t even been bad by all accounts?

Absolutely criminal if we don’t sign another creative midfielder type as well as keeping/replacing eriksen. Doesn’t even have to be Lo celso just need that type of player

With Ndombele, Clarke, Sessegnon (potentially brothers) coming along with rumours of Eriksen staying I reckon we're just holding off on this one. I think it is down to squad numbers. Not for registration purposes but it seems like Poch wants a lowish number to keep a tight knit squad.

I think we're still keen, and we will move if we can shift a few but I reckon after those four players mentioned above we won't do anything else until players are gone.

Because of the importance of the signing I think we should just do it and look to do the shifting afterwards, he would be great in the same team as Eriksen as well as a good replacement. He's at such a great age as well and I think we could massively regret not pushing the boat out for him.

Sorry but GLC is argentinian international, and in a position we badly need reinforcements in. The sess brothers are kids and for the future, there's no way signing kids like Clarke and Sess should mean we don't go for GLC. If we are actually building a side to win the league, which is apparently the plan, we need GLC on top of the kids, not instead of.

Completely agree. If Ndombele is our sole major signing, I'll be completely underwhelmed. Signing kids like Sess and Clarke is all good, but its hardly going to be having the top two quaking in their boots and its not a statement of intent.

Lol you haven’t read my post. I agree with you but my point is I’m not sure the club does

For me NDombele is great and will help all the forward players. Eriksen is the question mark and if he goes Maddison/Grealish would have been great,Lo Celso he looks talented but also looks to play similar to Dele or a Lamela.Maddison and Grealish are very proactive creatively

So it has to happen. Lamela HAS to go. Sell him to Palace and then he can still be in London to show Lo Chelso around.
Why are you so desperate to get rid? We should be adding to the squad while retaining the quality we have. We all know Lamela won't play too often if he stays but he and Lo Celso both have similar mindsets when it comes to passing and moving forward. I reckon they could link up well on the pitch.

I wanted this guy, but if Eriksen is staying we'd still have a solid lineup for Poch to pick from.

Assuming we play 4atb. Then we'll have 6 players from Kane, Son, Moura, Alli, Eriksen, Lamela, (Clarke, Sess), Winks, Sissoko, Ndombele. And maybe another player that the ITK has suggested.

But looking at that list, Lo Celso makes more sense than Zaha.

[Estadio Deportivo] #thfc are set to raise their offer for Real Betis midfielder Giovanni Lo Celso.
For what it's worth EstadioDeportivo has basically done a Lo Celso update every day for a few weeks now. Basically eery time the team in the pole position changes, the fee changes, what we have bid changes. They will possibly be reliable once/if a deal gets close but for the time being I am not putting much stock in what they are saying.

Lo Celso can play in the 2 in a 4-2-3-1, as a no. 10 in the same formation and as a CM in 4-3-3. He's versatile and not yet at his peak. I'd love another genuinely creative passer in the squad.

Would probably have to shed a couple of players to not get a bloated squad though...Preferably the likes of Wanyama and Lamela. Non HG and injury prone.

It honestly stumps me how people think on here. JJ literally said, then reiterated, that even though things go quiet in the press, it doesnt mean nothing is happening.

GLC is away with Argentina, and we are clearly throwing all of our people into securing Ndombele and Clarke.

Before anyone replies with "AgEnTs cAn NegOtiAtE oN beHaLf oF tHeIr cLiEntS", it makes perfect sense for us to put him on the backburner whilst he's away, in favour of securing our primary target.

I'm certain this will pick back up when Argentina are finished with the Copa America and we've signed Ndombele.

Funnily enough, based on how optimistic JJ was regarding Lo Celso a few weeks back, I'm actually still more confident we'll sign him than Ndombele.

If we get Lyon to sell Ndombele to us for around the £60m mark (fingers crossed) then Betis shouldn't really expect to get a higher fee out of us for Lo Celso.

£120m for Ndombele and Lo Celso would be good business.

No surprise things have started to heat up on Ndombele after his international duty and holiday. Sessegnon will probably kick off next week for similar reasons.

Not overly sold on this guy, especially for the figures being mentioned. Seems to have that frustrating Lamela like tendency to look to move the ball to his left when he'd be best served using his right. Obviously not watched him regularly and may well have the potential to be a great player and if Poch wants him then fair enough but i'm far from convinced.

I think this is such a harsh criticism on all left footed players in general. We've had so right footers who were painfully one footed, but the same criticism is very rarely levelled at them.
