Not overly sold on this guy, especially for the figures being mentioned. Seems to have that frustrating Lamela like tendency to look to move the ball to his left when he'd be best served using his right. Obviously not watched him regularly and may well have the potential to be a great player and if Poch wants him then fair enough but i'm far from convinced.

You could have said precisely the same about Dembele.

The point is right in principle, but I think that's why we need an addition. If it's €70m on Lo Celso, could we not find an alternative for less? If Eriksen is staying, then maybe (for example) you could take a risk on a younger players?

Don't get me wrong, i think Lo Celso looks great, and I'd be super excited if we signed him. But it seems like they're asking a price that is a some way beyond fair value. If there are alternatives, they need to be considered...and at least, Betis need to believe that we're looking at them.

So we need someone. And it's very possible that he's the outstanding candidate...but if you can get a very good candidate for €40m and have the €30m for other areas of the squad and you keep Eriksen, then maybe that's a better outcome. Difficult to say as there are lots of moving parts, but I doubt it's as simple as - we need him and only him, whatever the cost

Could be a way to scare Betis into dealing for Lo Celso.

Could be a genuine alternative at a more affordable price.

Funnily enough, based on how optimistic JJ was regarding Lo Celso a few weeks back, I'm actually still more confident we'll sign him than Ndombele.

Did jj confirm anything concrete in addition to the 53m offer reported by the BBC? The one bit I saw was basically him confirming our interest but nothing more than that unless I’ve missed something

It's a very fair question to which I don't have a good answer. Van de Beek? Ziyech? Neither are exactly like for like IMO, nor possibly as good. So I know where you're coming from.

Frankly I'm not sure, and you could well be right. I guess my main point is: if the management think there are alternatives, they're right in not being held to ransom

Completely agree. If Ndombele is our sole major signing, I'll be completely underwhelmed. Signing kids like Sess and Clarke is all good, but its hardly going to be having the top two quaking in their boots and its not a statement of intent.

well lets hope Betis accept near the price we are willing to pay. after getting Ndombele, Clarke and Sessengnon, we might only have what we budgeted for to get Lo Celso in. if Betis won't receive the amount we offer we will either look elsewhere and possibly a target that's not as good, or go back later once the outs are done and see if we can get him, plus replace those that leave

Why are you so desperate to get rid? We should be adding to the squad while retaining the quality we have. We all know Lamela won't play too often if he stays but he and Lo Celso both have similar mindsets when it comes to passing and moving forward. I reckon they could link up well on the pitch.

Surely we can't go into another season with just Eriksen as a no.10 option. If he stays he needs to be rotated to prevent burn out and challenged if performances dip. Lo Celso is also more mobile which much be more effective against certain types of opposition. They could even play together in some games. Personally think Lamela should probably go due to lack of fitness over a season

I know you can, but with Ndombele replacing Dembele at the moment we have a squad size of 27/28 senior players at the moment. KWP steps up into the squad, and will depend if we take the chance as using Whiteman as our 3rd choice keeper
