I don’t think many (or any) in here doubts his talent. And I think most of us would agree that the style of football and tactics under Ange would suit him. If we can get the GLC that plays for Argentina, most would appreciate to have him stay.

There are a few important questions that needs to be answered, though:

First of all: does he want to stay? Does he agree (with many in here) that this is the kind of football that would suit him, and does he see a future for himself in the team and at the club? Or have all the bridges been burnt (from both sides, one could argue).

Secondly: how is his physical condition re injuries? Is he built for the intensity of PL football? He has looked really good in La Liga, in European cups (for Spanish sides) and for Argentina. But the intensity of a full PL season with (hopefully) European fotball on top of that from next season again: can his body cope?

If yes to both of the above, he’s a keeper to me. If any of those are a no, or even a “maybe”, we should probably try to get as much money for him as we can. But most likely we’ll never get back what we initially paid for him - the market just isn’t there (if not Villa and Emery goes all in for him).

I must be living in an alternate universe as I am reading the club has mismanaged him and he can’t trust us? Uh, quite contrary. The club can’t trust this player based off his historical performances in the Premier League. He had 55 appearances for us and I can count on one hand the amount of times he put in a shift or impressed in any sort of way. He was clearly out of depth in this league and it would be a big mistake to all of a sudden think he can be trusted in an important role all because of a new manager. That’s not even including his constant injury problems.

Connor Gallagher had 8 goals and 3 assists in one season at a mid-table Crystal Palace side that struggled to score goals. Even in a poor season at Chelsea last year he had 3 goals and 1 assist. Gio has scored 1 goal and 3 assists in his entire Premier League career in a side with Harry Kane and Sonny.

I think I’ve seen him smile more in the last few days than I have in the last three seasons at Spurs. What a difference an attacking positive manager makes.

Would definitely love him to stay but guess it depends about numbers in midfield. Currently I guess it looks like this:

DMC: Biss, Skipp
MC: GLC, Tanguy, Maddison, Bentancur, Sarr, Holjberg

That is 8 for 3 positions. I expect two players to leave to make it a more manageable group for squad numbers. Sarr on loan and Holjberg to Madrid seem the most likely. Although maybe we keep Sarr around until Jan as we don't know what Bentancur's fitness is going to be like. And this also assumes Tanguy impresses in pre season too...

But there's also White and Devine who are probably beyond academy football, so that's 10 for 3 positions currently. OK, maybe White can be turned into an inverted LB (although most likely sold) and maybe Devine is cover at RW like in the friendly, but we're still above the 6 or 7 CMs we should probably have for the season. And that's before considering bringing in someone new like Gallagher. I agree PEH sounds like a sale that is likely and maybe Sarr and/or Devine are loans and White is a sale.

That gets us closer, but we probably need a permanent move for at least one of GLC and Ndombele. I think in an ideal world we keep GLC who seems like a good fit for Ange and move on Ndombele who doesn't seem like a match on work rate expectations. However, I suspect we do the opposite and keep Ndombele and sell GLC because I would expect a decent number of suitors for GLC and few if any for Ndombele.

Then again if Lo Celso had picked up a knock, and Ndombele played against West Ham we'd probably be saying let Lo Celso go and keep Ndombele.
I hope we keep both and see Højbjerg as the one to sell. Replacing Højbjerg? I think that comes down to whether we loan out Sarr or keep him.
Bentancur I don't count yet, he's dead until he's fit. If we're too many in January then we can consider whether we need to move someone on for Bentancur.
If White isn't a LB then he just need to go, training drills seem to indicate LB if anything. And its probably better for Devine to ease into his first minutes as a RM than central.

Personally think Devine was more a victim or circumstance and likely to not have played if Gil was fit.
Or, Devine might have played and GLC not

Forced smile and a clear S.O.S hand signal for another club to come in and save him. Probably because we couldn't even provide him with adult sized shorts.
To be fair with sexy thighs like that, we’d all probably wear tiny shorts to show ‘em off!

Who'd have thought not being made to feel rubbish and being called directly and indirectly shit by your manager would make a difference?
I know right! Its like some sort of miracle haha and who'd have thought being managed in a straight forward honest fair way with tactics and training which actually focus on keeping possession and using the ball rather than just running and rigid positioning would mean that players actually look good and enjoy their football again.

I really hope its enough for Gio to want to stay.

This is also why I was really pushing back against some posters who wrote him and some other players off saying things like "they've had enough chances" etc when it was clear that they were just mostly being misused in a defensive rigid system and they were also not motivated by Jose and Conte's style of man management.

Per Ali Gold from today's training session:

Lo Celso on fire

One player who could not stop scoring during the practice match and drills during Saturday's session was Giovani Lo Celso.

The Argentina international, who scored against West Ham on Tuesday night, was firing efforts into the net from everywhere during the session.

It is yet to be seen whether the 27-year-old will be a part of Postecoglou's plans for the coming season but there's no doubt he's got quality in his technique and he was sending some beautiful volleys and half-volleys past the helpless goalkeepers throughout the session.
