It's a fair bid though. Not £8m or something like we'd usually offer. Somewhat of a positive sign.
I
bit odd to just bid 60m out the gate. am guessing there's already been some talk about what's fair/agreeable and i don't doubt we're far off it, maybe just the structure that's putting a hold on it at present.

would be some statement if we can nab both him and ndombele, as i think is our aim.

Love Kempes.

Saw him play for us in 1984 in a friendly against Enfield.

Gutted we didn't sign him.
Yes, I once to spoke to Micky Hazard (name drop) and he said Kempes came to to us to train ahead of a possible transfer. Wow imagine him as a signing. A legend.

Yep. Came to us on trial at 30 years old. We played Enfield and Nice in friendlies. Think we beat Enfield 7-0 and he didn't score and then we drew to Nice and he didn't score.

So he didn't impress Shreeves then and we let him go. Sad really.

Let me see if I have this right, based on recent reports.....

- We've bid 60m euros (£53m) and that was rejected.
- Betis want closer to release clause figure of 88m euros but likelihood is that 70m euros (£63m) would do it.
- Atletico, City and Utd all credited with interest.
- JJ has confirmed our interest.
- Player was previously a teammate of both Lucas Moura & Serge Aurier at PSG.

Have I missed anything?

Real Madrid have also been credited with interest and we're going to win the Champions League.

Would be a fantastic start to the summer if we can get this lad signed up. Very exciting prospect.

100m euros = 88m GBP

A bid of £53m is 60% of £88m.

A bid of £63m is 71.5% of £88m of which £12.6m would be due to PSG as a sell-on fee.

Betis would stand to clear £50.4m by selling Gio to us for £63m, as oppose to £42.4m if they sell to us at £53m.

I am bit bored this morning.

This is the one I’m excited about most, tbh, more so than N’Dombele. Just looks like a real player all round, think he could be absolutely brilliant for us. Fingers crossed

Assuming Eriksen goes, what I love about the links to Lo Celso (and Ndombele too) is that they're versatile midfielders and they fit what I think we should do, which is build the midfield around Winks, who is just as good as both of those two. It would be a young midfield, but it's a great footballing trio, but with enough athleticism and bite off the ball to be solid defensively.

If this is our midfield mix next season (again, assuming Eriksen goes) then I think we've done very well indeed:

Winks/Dier
Ndombele/Sissoko - Lo Celso/Lamela
And then you have three of Kane, Son, Dele, Lucas and a new signing or two making up the forward positions. With a new RB as well, that's got title-challenge potential imo.

You're thinking we'll go 433 at some point then. I've been wondering if we would as it seems to be the default for most of the top teams. We've done it once or twice but doesn't seem to be a Poch fave. Maybe he doesn't feel he's had the midfielders to do it.

Not necessarily mate. As we've played a fair bit this season, you could also have that in a diamond with Dele/Lo Celso/Lamela at the tip, with Kane and Son/Lucas ahead of them. You could also shift to a 4-2-3-1 given that Lo Celso, Lamela and Dele are all capable of playing across the attacking midfield three (as well as Son and Lucas obviously), and NDombele, Sissoko, Winks and Dier are capable of playing in a double pivot.

That's what I'd personally love about that combination, it's so flexible.
