Bad mistake but still think he's comfortably net positive this season for 'amazing saves/bad mistakes'.

Don't think replacing him should be a priority but a better backup next season would at least give him some competition.

Think the wall was mostly to blame. You'd expect them to stop a shot at that level and being relatively central to the goal. Lloris unfortunately saw it very late.

Don't think the replays helped as you see everything slower. And it always looks worse the more you see because you focus on the ball being close to him and nothing else.

Was having to watch out the corner of my eye and with the sound off, but didn't the Newcastle player in the wall drop back into an offside position and then the ball went through the gap he left?

That was how it looked anyway. Need to catch the highlights when home.

Anyway, Lloris has saved us enough times over the years, so let's focus on the positives today - of which there were many. ?

Love Lloris, not top 3 anymore in the league but in most stats he is up there with the likes of Mendy and Navas and both are great GKs.

Are we really digging Hugo out for not stopping a free kick that flashed through a crowded wall, and he got a hand to anyway?

Fucking hell, Spurs fans.

He’s been a consistently decent keeper in his time here. I wish he’d be a little more dominant when the ball is crossed high into our box and not hesitantly rooted to his line.

To be fair, I think in him being able to get a hand to it he'd be the first to tell you he should have kept it out. Not saying it outright justifies 'digging him out' but I do think it's one he should have kept out and that he himself would normally back himself to save.

General goalkeeping philosophy that you don't get beat from a free kick, when the ball is struck to the gk side. The fact he got a hand to it makes his initial false step even worse.

Personally it was only a marginal mistake, but understand why some fans and quite a few commentators are calling him out.

He still managed to get a hand to it too. Some of this lot don't have a firm grasp on reality
About as firm grasp on reality as Hugo had on the ball...

Hardly a mistake, the bigger issue is the amount of seemingly unnecessary free kicks we give away in dangerous areas, that's the take away from yesterday's first half and something that can actually be improved on, not Lloris slightly misjudging a powerful free kick just outside the box.

All you have to do is watch the goals Gollini has conceded this season to appreciate how important Hugo has been for us.

Yep. The set pieces we allow the opposition is a real concern. Neither one of West Ham or Newcastle would have got a sniff without our conceding those.

Way bigger priorities than to replace Hugo at the moment, I agree that it is coming in the next couple of years but we are not there yet.

As a save I think that was a lot harder than it looked. But the wall probably wasn’t set up right which is down to him ultimately. A friend actually asked me do I think Liverpool would have had the success they’ve had if Hugo was their keeper and it definitely made me think.

His footwork is bad and he’s lost his spring.

Second goal recently comfortably within his reach that he never stopped.

Not sure about that but clearly at fault yesterday

He’ll be bitterly disappointed about the goal but I’m sure it’ll only make him even more determined to go on another fault free run

Still a really solid keeper imo
