Absolutely love this deal, I hope that we still go for Kostic though, IP could maybe play on the right hand side (lack of elite rwb’s out there?) and both players could utilise the forward roles too?

Very promising start to the summer!

So, basically news is, Perisic has agreed deal with us and 'monday decision' is basically him notifying Inter and saying goodbyes...

who knows but it’s sounding close. Obviously nothing done until they’re holding the shirt though as per usual.

Of course he was playing further up the pitch for a lot of these goals, but so there are so many instances of him scoring when attacking the space/a cross at the back post. he is clearly a good finisher, which makes me excited thinking of all the times Kane has put Reg/Sess through on goal.

Also, shows how vital it is to get someone for RWB who can beat their man and cross well. As @arunspurs has mentioned, Perisic is very good aerially.

He's just a huge threat...didn't realise how good he was in front of goal as well...

Class video that

And if Perisic needs to know anything re Tottenham and the area, all he has to do is call Modric, Kranjcar and Corluka. ??

The mad thing is that in the real world of football if you keep your body and mind right you can carry on playing well into your late thirties as has been pointed out earlier in the thread. This isn't a video game where the stats drop after 30. I'm all for signing players for the future, but you also need to add the quality and experience. Genuinely believe if we get him Perisic will make a massive difference both on and off the pitch as someone who has won titles and played at the highest level. As well as being someone who has worked under Conte before in a league winning campaign.

Also on a free? What a signing.
Totally agree.

I believe this is one major reason why we've never been able to get over the line.

We've had Llorente and Gallas at various points but I think they were actually well past their best and probably not the most effective.

However, we do seem to have always favoured an up and comes, rather than an experienced player who still has a lot to give.

You need those players for titles.

Very astute signing this will be.

He plays the role Conte will ask of him very well, hes lethal in the final third and he won't be asked to play 40+ games as Sessegnon will have a fair share of games, which means he'll be fresher.

He can play the role more effectively than Reguillon as his technical composure is better and he's more accomplished. You won't see as much 'rush of the blood' stuff.

Big change from the Italian league but his performance in that Liverpool game give me a lot of hope. Plus I’ve always thought him a dangerous player for Croatia.

As with aggregators beware but I can never find the di marzio stuff

The Di Marzio report:

Ivan Perisic's future is yet to be written. The Croatian footballer's contract is due to expire on 30 June with Inter Milan, but the Nerazzurri have already made the vice-world champion's entourage an offer for renewal. While on Perisic's side there are ongoing evaluations, given the simultaneous interest of some English teams: Chelsea, but above all Tottenham.

The Blues' corporate situation is still holding back possible negotiations for the player. While Tottenham, and first and foremost Antonio Conte, who has already coached Perisic at Inter, are serious, offering the player what he is asking for (a two-year contract at six million).

Tottenham are waiting for an answer from Perisic himself, but at Spurs there is still the confidence to close the deal by pleasing the coach who brought Kane and his teammates back into the Champions League. In fact, the Tottenham project foresees, alongside a series of young players, also the possibility of relying on more experienced profiles, such as that of Perisic.

The Croatian is evaluating the offers: the temptation to go and play in the Premier League is very strong, and the offers on the plate are significant from an economic as well as a technical point of view. A definitive answer from the player to Inter and Tottenham is expected by Monday

Now that I sit and look back, we did have a young squad under Poch and very few had actually been there and done it. We didn't have enough experience in the moments that matter. Now several of those are still here (Kane, Dier, Davies, Hugo, Sonny etc) and adding the likes of Perisic with the youth of Kulu, Romero, Bentancur boy oh boy we could be something.

Yes I am perhaps getting a little TOO excited..

It's a risk because of his age but he's incredibly versatile and has been fantastic at wing back. If he's a free agent it leaves more of the budget for elsewhere.

Sounds like we need to get it done before Chelsea can sign players! ?

would be a surprising signing (and i never buy free transfers are free, there's always a hefty signing on fee) but undeniably talented. how often do we sign over 30s?

What's really interesting about Perisic and Conte is that Conte was really frustrated with him when he first came to Inter as coach:

"We're working with him (Perisic), but his response isn't positive," Conte said about the player.

"Perisic can't play in the role that I want. Therefore, he can only play as a striker right now."

Hence Perisic's loan to Bayern in the 2019/20 season. However, he came back to Inter and played 32 games in their title winning season 20/21.

I love this deal if we can get it agreed - undoubtedly a top class player with versatility who has absolutely tons of top level experience. I know he is getting on a bit but for a free this would be a really great signing.

No doubts about his positioning: 49 apps last season, 40 as a left wing-back.
