Can anyone tell me the last champions league winner that we have signed, that is not a loan (bale).

I may be misguided, but I can't remember.
PEH won it at Bayern. Not sure how much he played in the tournament but I’m sure he got a participants medal for the Group stages

PEH didn't play a single CL match for Bayern that season, and only 2 matches for them in the league, was mostly a youth player at that point. Still a winner in that he got a medal seemingly

Arsenal banging on about age being an issue, yet their greatest ever side had an average team age of 31 ??
Also, apparently ours is an "ageing squad" because we have:

Kane (28)
Dier (28)
Son (29)
Davies (29)
Doherty (30)
Perisic (33)
Lloris (35)

yet no one seems bothered that the 2 best teams in the country last season had more "ageing" players than us:

Man City:
Ederson (28)
Laporte (28)
Stones (28)
Cancelo (28)
De Bruyne (30)
Gundogan (31)
Mahrez (31)
Walker (32)
Fernandinho (37)

Liverpool:
Robertson (28)
Fabinho (28)
Oxlade-Chamberlain (28)
Alisson (29)
Salah (29)
van Dijk (30)
Matip (30)
Fabinho (30)
Mane (30)
Henderson (31)
Milner (36)

Gooners have created this fantasy in their heads that our players will all be retired in 2 years time and it's helping them cope with their team's disastrous end to the season. They can only lie to themselves for so long though.

This is very good information but my main takeaway from this was "wow, I definitely thought Ederson and Robertson were like 25." Weird, I know.

When you're on a stag night, and the challenge is to convince all the clubs that a mannequin is one of the lads...

I think this will turn out to be the best signing of the window. I’m that confident of his success here and think that highly of his ability. Even if we spend huge chunks of money on LCB, CM, and FWD, Perišić is a proven world class player. Obviously I think most people are happy, but I still think there’s not enough fanfare for how good the player is. Lack of a big fee and/or age I guess, but if he maintains his level from the previous two seasons, as I said, signing of the summer. Top quality in everything he does and will be tasked with doing.

Can anyone with a more reliable memory remind me....

A long time ago now, in the Redknapp days, I recall we were heavily linked with a couple of young Croatian kids. I have a feeling one or both ended up in Serie A (A bit like that lad who recently went to Roma hyped up to the balls on here, and then was at Leicester on loan maybe season before last not pulling up trees.), and the more renown one at the time ended up with a less glamorous career (like Zlatan Ibrahimovic vs Kennedy Bakircioglu).

Anyway, was Perisic one of them?

I feel like Conte has taken the standards in this club so high that I haven't gotten as excited as I should've about this transfer.

What a signing and instead of being in awe I'm just thinking, nice one now onto the next.

Finally acting like a big club.

No.

I can’t remember their names but it wasn’t long enough ago. They were teenagers and neither would be anywhere near 33 yet. It was when Baldini was DoF so, at most, 9 years ago.

No - you’re way off age wise

Hallilovic was one

And the other was a central defender.

Edit: Just googled….Tin Jedvaj.
There’s a blast from the past. I believe it broke down because we owed them money for Luka’s sell on clause and wanted to include it as part of the deal over the three year period, but they wanted it up front. Something like that.
