I actually think he realises he's not up to the Premier league, to come into it at 33 it's pace and power going to hit you whoever you are, he's not daft and knows he needs to drop a notch.
Respect him for that and good luck to him.
To be fair, he should not have been played as a FB, more of a winger similar to his international team.

Would have been an ideal substitute for Son as a winger.

The league is just not suited for him at 33, just similar to when he was on loan at Bayern, he played as a winger too.

Yeah my guess (similar to what we did with Toby and a few others) is the thinking is:

- He's on a reported 178Kish a week
- Works out to almost 7.5M a year
- He wants to go to his hometown club, who won't be able to pay a transfer fee (my guessing)
- If we give him even 1-2m as an early pay off and agree to part ways, the club saves 5.5-6.5M on the season.
- Repeat that with Hugo and anyone else willing.

I'm actually surprised it doesn't happen more in football. Here in America it happens in our leagues almost all the time, but since our leagues have salary caps, there is usually a rule that some of the money owed still counts against your salary cap so that teams can't take advantage of the situation.
Bloody hell, can you not try to be a bit more precise? 😀😀

sickening our top assist maker is shown the door before the likes of sanchez, dier, sess
The absolute state of this comment….

Firstly, you’re sickened by something that hasn’t even happened yet
Secondly, if you’re sickened by which fringe players your team keeps or doesn’t keep you probably need to calm down a little.

Thirdly, Perisic is obviously surplus to requirements. He can’t play left back in a 4, and he would be behind (at an absolute minimum) Son, Richy and Maddison to play further forward.

If you get a good deal for a player you don’t need you do it. You don’t sell players in order from the one bits of our fanbase think is the most crap and refuse to sell anyone else.

Postecoglou: “Ivan Perisić has been playing, and playing very well — he does have a future with me and the club”. 🇭🇷

“I’ve followed his career for a long time, he’s an absolute professional, the way he looks after himself, and he’s had a really strong pre-season”.

FYI he's listed as a defender on FPL.

I was tempted to put him in but not sure how much he'll play.
Can't see him being an FPL pick unless he's starting every game. Will get a fair few assists off the bench, mind.

In real life terms he's a fantastic squad option and a superb fit for Ange.

Can't rely on him to start over Sonny, unless Sonny plays striker.

He will start some matches, but probably be hard to predict when.

For Spurs, I think Maddison, Richarlison (assuming he is fit) and Udogie are the players most will start.

simply misused by Conte who supposed knows him well

Can't really blame Conte for last season. Perisic was playing as a wing back for Conte at Inter and was very good, so brought him to Tottenham to play the same position and wasn't as good as he was for Inter. Could the the intensity of the league that hindered him, who knows, but he played him in the same way and it didn't work out for whatever reason.

I think the concerns about players not getting much time ahead of another player is something that may not carry much weight this season as apparently Postecoglu is known for using subs to simply replace like for like to maintain the pressure and work rate. A
We may well see a lot of everyone.

He’s a great professional and hard worker. Makes a lot of sense right now to keep him around whilst we build for the future. He’s also looked good in pre season so he’d be a good option at LW in certain games.
