He's an incredible player and a fantastic signing. Also shows how much we've needed a playmaker since Eriksen left.

If you'd told me that, by the end of the season:
- He'd have 2 goals and 4 assists
- But that he was playing a really important part in the culture of the team, was playing quite deep at times, and was a fulcrum of the side

...honestly I'd have thought that was a slightly disappointing outcome on stats, but pleasing to hear on the other aspects.

That he's done that after 6 games is insane. If he stays fit, he'll be in the conversation for Premiership Player of the Year. He won't get it, as Haaland and Salah look good early bets, but there's no shame in that. Great stuff

Lo Celso would offer something different to other available midfielders like PEH or Skipp but personally I have never been impressed by Lo Celso in the PL . I often read how brilliant he is in an Argentinian shirt but his contribution in the 50 odd games he has played in a Spurs shirt has been negligible.
I'd like to see him in the first team for Ange but this is his last chance with us this season.

Maybe Ange can get something out of him that the others have failed to do but at the moment I doubt he is going to get a regular spot without injuries to others plus when Rodrigo comes back thats another midfielder in front of him.

I didn't think he was running all that well on it after he came back on. He looked like he was still feeling it but then he played a few passes around. Definitely was less central to all we were doing after that incident. Looked like he was ever so slightly limping when he came off.

To be fair I’d have been very disappointed if that was the end of the season given his G/A output over the years but I take your point. He has been immense. Let’s hope it continues!

Hopefully worse case scenario, he’s back after the break.

He won't be a starter but should be good enough for the squad. Maddison will be a nailed on starter and that's the obvious position for Lo Celso. With less minutes he could maybe avoid so many injuries but getting injured in his first competitive match was not a good sign. I think its going to be difficult to get a great stand in for Maddison though. Similar to Kane where any signing for that position is going to be 2nd choice. If Lo Celso doesn't cut it though I hope we see Devine come in. Another different player but think he would work well in that position.

Nice post although if he only had 2 goals and 4 assists by the end of the season as a n.o10 creative player never mind if he's dropping deep occasionally then I'd want my money back lol.

But yea he's on fire, keep this up and in with a shout of POTS for sure.

We need Lo Celso fit, I can see Ange putting Kulu in there otherwise.
Great shout. In fact, I'd put Kulu in there ANYWAY, as I don't rate GLC and don't think his heart is in it.

Front three of Son, Manor on his preferred left, and Johnson on his preferred right side, with a midfield of Bissouma, Sarr, and Kulu.

I agree. I'm afraid Lo Celso isn't ever going to be premier league level.

What we needed was a Manager that wanted to use a playmaker since Pochettino left. If we'd had Maddison, Mourinho and Conte wouldn't have played him.

What is Steve Nicol's problem with Maddison :banghead:

In the summer he was adamant that he was not a great signing ''as he doesn't do enough off the ball and he goes missing in lots of games'' the usual disparaging comments - now i've seen quotes just before the NLD where he says Maddison hasn't played in games like this and will struggle with the intensity as he is too slow.

I know Nicol NEVER says anything remotely positive about Spurs but his anti Maddison stance is very odd.

* quick google search indicates he wanted Liverpool to sign him a couple of years ago.

It all makes sense now

So impressed with what he's brought to the club. I knew he was a top player at Leicester but he's upped his game massively in a few short weeks. He has everything Eriksen had and a whole lot more. He's been a huge influence in every game so far and he's just a perfect fit for us.
I don’t know if he’s upped his game, he’s been a class player for a few seasons now. He’s just playing with much better players.

Like all top players he’s just so consistent. I think criticisms that he wasn’t in previous seasons was just down to being in an average to shit team. He’s obviously going to have the off game here and there but you know, generally, you’re going to get an 8 or 9 out of 10 from him.

The really exciting thing is that hopefully if we keep getting better under Ange, and strengthen the squad further in coming windows, then he can become an elite, world class player in the next season or 2 but even if he stays at this level we’ll all be very happy.
