Why are people concerned about his age? He’s 26! Hardly over the hill, and more like just coming into his prime.

I don’t think he’s the right player for us at this point and at that price. If we’re going to spend 50M on a homegrown AM, go get Olise from Palace. 5 years younger. More athletic. Hungry with room to grow.
Either of Olise or Eze would be great additions, I think Eze probably is a better choice in my opinion.

People talk about better value, but in terms of goals/assists per minute he's easily top 5 in the PL in his position and not even that far off KDB (although obviously his all-round game is weaker). One of the best direct free-kick takers in the league too.

Not sure how/if he would work in an Ange system - and that's the most important thing - but if a player had put up his numbers and had his goal compilation in another league we'd be spaffing ourselves over the prospect of signing them.

If Ange wants him and we can get him for around 50m I think that's a good deal. If we want someone very energetic and willing to grind and press non-stop then we should look elsewhere, though.

Yeah, I don't think you can say a 30-year centre forward with one year left is worth £100m, however good Kane is, and then say £50m is too much for a 26-year-old international that tops countless Opta tables.

Might be able to loan them a couple too being as we find it pretty much impossible to sell anyone.

I don’t see the point in signing Maddison. I’d rather play Kulusevski as an attacking 8, he works harder, holds the ball under pressure better and when he’s on form has a similar level of end product, if not better. Would make far more sense to me to bring Kulu inside and spend that 50m on a real handful of a winger with pace and trickery so we’re adding something to the 11 that we’re lacking.

If available, and we can make the squad space, we should sign him if possible. Would be a coup.

Really don’t get the dislike. Saying we should sign two completely unknowns in the league over a proven entity when we need creativity and goals.
Maddison imo would be a great signing.

I feel like I'm from a parallel universe as the only person to think he'd be brilliant for us.
I think he could be an excellent signing for us. Our need for ready made quality is clear to see.

The questions for me are what other interest in him is there. Does he fit the formation and playing style. Does he want to come.

Leicester will command a high fee for him but they’re in no position to ask stupid money for him.

For £50 mil we could get both Alex Scott (£20 mil) and Kang In (€17 mil) with coin to spare. Le Fee would have been another one but he looks like he's going to Rennes for €25 mil and also Veiga has a €40 mil release clause. All in all, I know a lot of fans want him but first of all i'd be amazed if he doesn't go to Newcastle and secondly I just think there are other better ways to spend the money. As I've mentioned before, I really think we should be targeting younger players to build the base of a new long term project. Even if the price is less the £50 mil as there is a lot of interest i'm sure he will be getting big contract offers especially if Chelsea are interested.
Wow, this is a crazy deal.
Would suit the 'Hatate' role extremely well. Surprised no bigger team is all over this.

In the PL since joining LC:

- 19 G/A in 30 matches last season
- 30 G/A in 53 matches (21/22)
- 21 G/A in 42 matches (20/21)
- 12 G/A in 38 matches (19/20)
- 14 G/A in 38 matches (18/19)
- 96 G/A in 201 matches (Total)

Probably as good as you can get. Yes 26/27 this upcoming season but worth the length of a 4 year contract. I get the slight concerns about injuries and where we are in rebuild, but if we were to get him I think he helps more than he hurts!

Devine is barely League One quality right now. He's highly rated by all accounts, but Scott could be a genuinely special player IMO, and I wouldn't be all surprised if he did a Dele by contributing instantly in the prem. He's head and shoulders above others in the championship IMO.
Comparing to Ange's Celtic team though, Alex Scott would suit the 'Hatate' role whereas Devine is more suited to the 'O Reilly' role imo.

I was under the assumption that it's essentially the same role but on the other side of the pitch, no?

Nope your not. In over ten years on here I’ve not seen one player that some don’t have a problem with. We could sign prime messi and some would pick fault

The thing with Maddison is that you can almost guarantee goals and assists from the midfield, which is a priceless benefit, especially if you still have wide men and a striker that also contribute well in that department. We saw as much with Eriksen in the years he was here.

Personally I think it's one of the 'safer' signings we could make, even at a reasonably large fee as I'd be quite confident in getting a decent return from him on the pitch.

Who incidentally is also another CAA Base client.

I was all for Maddison and to a degree still am but with limited funds and now with AP in charge I think it might be more prudent recruiting elsewhere such as Kang-In whilst focusing primarily on GK and defensive reinforcements.

I cant really understand people. Looking at what he brings every season. For that level of return, in this market, 50m is bang on the money. I hope we do it. Would be great for us

After watching them both in the U20s World Cup for England, I'd have assumed it was the opposite way round.
