They will find a way around it somehow. Fifa rarely take on the big clubs and win.
It is really down to the Premier League to enforce their own rules on dodgy sponsors, UEFA couldn't prove their case against Man City at CAS but the PL are now investigating a breach of their rules by Man City.
Will have to wait and see if Murray Rosen KC comes up with the proof of illegal sponsorship.

We/Conte failed repeatedly to do anything about our obvious problems and just kept on repeating the same stuff over and over.
I’m not sure about that. Conte had us in the mix for top-4, but the wheels came off after he left and we tried to be more expressive.

I get that people did not like the football, but the results were better with Conte than without.

I don't think we're anywhere near as bad as this season has made us out to be. We/Conte failed repeatedly to do anything about our obvious problems and just kept on repeating the same stuff over and over. Our weaknesses were there for everybody to see and we stuck with the same flawed plan. A bit of flexibility and bravery and we could have been much closer imo. Very much hope Postecoglou can get us playing somewhere near our potential because we were miles off under Conte and Stellini.
Yeah I agree for the most part. I think that if we were to offer higher or similar wages to Newcastle then Maddison would have a decision to make. We're still an attractive prospect, don't get me wrong.

But I do, however, think our best bet of getting Maddison by far (is Ange wants him as the Guardian are reporting) is if Newcastle go for Szoboszlai and give us a free run. I reckon he's odds-on to pick the barcodes over us otherwise - they have CL and it's hard to see them dropping off a cliff any time soon given the investment they'll get over the next 5 years.

we are already in talks with the reps ange has approved the move. the player seems himself here but has offers from other clubs our relationship with the base favors us ATM in this move.

His injury history is better
Fair enough to be questioning me, but I definitely dont think it's too 'optimistic'.

He has a well reported release clause of €70m. And he has also been quite vocal about wanting to leave.

To go into even more detail, he was caught liking posts on Instagram about Newcastle's pending Champions League qualification after they beat Brighton 4-1.

he’s an excellent player. We’d never pay that release clause though

Yeah - I mean Conte was rigid AF and should've done something different once the entire league figured us out but I think there's a strong argument to be made that given how rubbish our defence was, our only chance of ever getting CL in the past 2 seasons was with a reactive, counter-attacking style.

To actually succeed playing a more attractive style I think we need better quality at the back regardless of who the manager is.

Thanks mate. Good to see us at least attempting to move quickly. I hope we get him.

Good update.

Hopefully it’s not a transfer that drags on for too many more weeks.

As whoever we play as CAM will need to be here for the start of pre season as we don’t really have one (except potentially returning loan players) and will need someone to operate that role in training sessions to help Ange get his style across.

Yeah might as well move onto other targets. If both us and Newcastle had finished top 4 I reckon he would come to us but with no European football there is little incentive for him to choose us above them.

There were reports his wife wants to move to London and not Newcastle. If that's the case he isn't going there. I suspect it is a problem they will find with a lot of players. They can get paid well to live in many cities that are nicer than Newcastle (not that it is a bad place to live whatsoever) and if that is part of the decision making process in a move then the player is going to chose London or Manchester.

It’s a shame that we didn’t sign Maddison from Norwich because that would have been the smart move & we have a Eriksen replacement for the last few years but instead, we didn’t have it’s not as exciting to potentially sign him when compared to Alex Scott or some youngsters that profile to be at his level soon.

Newcastle owners are the richest, not Newcastle. Who's annual turnover was at 179m per annum.

Ours is at 445m. They cannot get enough dodgy sponsorship deals to make the difference up.

I would add, that 445m was without CL football.

Yeah I think this is being underplayed everywhere. In order to catch up with us and the other top 4 teams very quickly financially they basically need to do what Man City are now being investigated for.

Honestly really not fussed if we loose out on Maddison. Be disappointed if we passed on the chance to get Kang-In tho. I also think we’d be silly to pass on Scott. Thank for the info tho, surprised we are looking for another player who can play ST, unless of course Kane goes.

No, we haven’t - but Newcastle have become (clutches for big-fish analogy) whales.

They are the richest team in the league. Qualifying for the champions league and winning stuff will become normal for them.
It’s no bad reflection on us and we still have a chance with Madison if that is who AP wants. Wish we had got him from Norwich in the first place - seemed like a bit if a no brainer at the time.
Don’t think they have at all. No doubting their financial power but I don’t think players will suddenly be flooding to them. They are miles ahead of schedule. Howes achieved wonders with that squad and taken full advantage of us Liverpool and Chelsea being miles off. But they probably need 7+ players to be able to compete across CL and the PL next year. On paper I’d say it’s a no brainer to joining us with some of the names already in our squad in comparison to them.

I've wanted him for ages. His performance for the national team have been really good when I've seen them. It's been quite the surprise why it has taken so long for a PL team to take the plunge on him.
