Honestly really not fussed if we loose out on Maddison. Be disappointed if we passed on the chance to get Kang-In tho. I also think we’d be silly to pass on Scott. Thank for the info tho, surprised we are looking for another player who can play ST, unless of course Kane goes.
Kang-In has played CF before and LW….. the dream is still alive. Scott should really be our first bit of business imo. He is one we will wish we had got years down the line.

Why can’t we get both? Especially if we can get a fee for Gill and Lucas going

I’m not sure about that. Conte had us in the mix for top-4, but the wheels came off after he left and we tried to be more expressive.

I get that people did not like the football, but the results were better with Conte than without.

I think the wheels were well on the way to falling off before he left personally. I think he bailed early precisely because of that. I'd also say that we were only in contention for top 4 because Chelsea and Liverpool were even worse than us.

I think regardless of whether you believe the money is better spent elsewhere on say Kang-In & Scott or lumped on a proven commodity in Maddison, I truly hope it's not a protracted transfer and we are getting into the realms of late August time.

Bit of a litmus test too with how Munn will oversee transfer operations if we do act much more decisively in either securing the player or walking away.

Haha yeah he’s played as a false 9, I’ve seen him play there, it’s a stretch to think of him being a realistic option in that position tho imo. He could be a valid choice for RWF

It is really down to the Premier League to enforce their own rules on dodgy sponsors, UEFA couldn't prove their case against Man City at CAS but the PL are now investigating a breach of their rules by Man City.
Will have to wait and see if Murray Rosen KC comes up with the proof of illegal sponsorship.
Hope so too many teams getting away with it i.e Chelsea, City and PSG.
Once they charge City hooefully the other teams will toe the line.

we are already in talks with the reps ange has approved the move. the player seems himself here but has offers from other clubs our relationship with the base favors us ATM in this move.
Would be a fantastic signing if we could pull this off much needed creativity, if we did then I wonder if Ange would play a 4-2-3-1 or if he’d play Maddison as a n.o8 in his usual 4-3-3.

to add we have 2 other players in mind if this deal for James doesn't materialize.

priority this window is .

CB 2 if we can offload
GK
AM
WF/ST

WLB
Thanks for sharing mate and these are the perfect priorities.

We can’t do everything at once and we’d be much stronger if we made these 5 signings, it would then be very interesting what Ange would look to do especially at LB but also RB as his full backs tend to tuck in as part of the 2-3-5 build up play in which case I wonder if Porro becomes a RW option and Emerson and Davies/Reggie/Udogie play as the inverted full backs.

Basically interesting that a full back isn’t a priority but those 5 positions would be brilliant to help Ange play the style he needs.

Lots of talk that Ange will go with a 4-2-3-1 , similar to Arteta at the start of his time with Arsenal, until we can get everyone that Ange wants.

Yea he could do, he’s played that at Australia before but he’s really strongly favoured 4-3-3 in his last 3 jobs so I’d think his idea/preference would be to play 4-3-3.

Going to be fun seeing how the squad gets shaped this summer.

Maybe because we have udogbie (sp) and 4 others currently here, maybe once we shift the others we may get one in

Maybe because we have udogbie (so) and
Udogie is a LWB, Davies is easily exposed in a high line as a LB and Reguillon who knows if he’ll be in Angela’s plans.

Either way none of them really suit the inverted full back role in Anges 4-3-3 but it depends on if Ange thinks he can coach them to suit it.

Ah I forgot about spence too mate yep might be a case of having to see which ones can adapt then shift the ones who can’t and bring one in.

Either way Maddison would add so much needed creativity so if Ange thinks he can make him fit into his plans then perfect, would also bring some excitement as Maddison is a flair player who can create something out of nothing which we’ve sorely missed since Eriksen left.

Totally agree, just saying why we maybe haven’t been linked with anyone else. Udogie can play as an attacking FB though

Ange loves the little half spaces with his 8’s pushing into those so Maddison could be absolutely perfect for that even in the 4-3-3 so possibly no need to switch to 4-2-3-1 if we signed him.

I mean one huge positive of getting Maddison (if we do) compared to all the sexy upcoming players like Kang-In and Scott, is Maddison practically guarantees goals instantly. With Kane likely leaving within the next 12 months and Son getting older, we're desperately going to need another reliable source of goals in the team.

Goals aren't everything but there really aren't many players out there that average 10+ goals from midfield in the PL and Scott, for all his ability and potential, got 1 goal in 42 last season in the Championship and less than half as many assists too.

I keep seeing Alex scott mentioned have we had any ITK on him or anything to suggest we are after him. I've seen him saying he's a spurs fan and his best mate is Devine but other than that can't fathom why people keep talking about us signing him.
