This guy is so good. I'd honestly be really fucked off if there has been any kind of falling out, but Wimmer just does not seem the type at all. Hopefully we get some clarity and ease of comfort in the coming weeks.

We have 2 first choice CBs - both top class, senior internationals - and 2 second choice CBs - both young players with a lot of potential, one of whom is already an international for his country.

This situation ain't broke, so I don't see any need to fix it.

#thfc A strange one but told Spurs are interested in Man City's Mangala & will listen to offers for Kevin Wimmer.

If you're Wimmer, and you have been passed over for Carter-Vickers, then you need to seriously consider your options at this stage. Schalke had a major interest in Wimmer last January. Their sporting director even confirmed it in the press. Considering they lost Matip on a free, have money leftover from the Sane sale, and acquired Bentaleb on a loan from us, I think we should watch to see if there are any links of Wimmer to Schalke in the next 48 hours. Would make the Mangala link make more sense, as that has now been reported by ESPN, L'Equipe (who tend to have good sources for French players), and now even Spurs covering journalists.

Oh man that is just ugh. Going to bank on the fact we have a couple more days left in the window. No way we drop to three (four with Dier) CBs.

CCV is a first team member now, had a solid pre season so why should he then be sent back to 4th choice, ... Wimmer had a injury I believe so behind in his pre season/match sharpness. Nothing more in it for me. Competition for places should be encouraged.

Ffs Wimmer has been injured and CCV showed himself to be able deputy on tour. There is no reason to rush Wimmer back into the match day squad and take a risk

Wimmer played more in pre-season than Vertonghen did who was immediately put back into the first team. Somethings clearly not right here.

wtf is going on at this club? Wimmer has played well for us and has a great character. Absolutely zero reasons that we can see that he should not be in the match day squad.

just seems weird then that Poch would say he's available and not pick him, and that the journos who follow Spurs say he could be sold.

I hope it is that he's not being rushed back and is available but not quite ready, waiting til after the break, but I don't get how they could look at Mangala last season and think he's the one when Wimmer was excellent when called upon.

only explanation for leaving wimmer out of the gameday squad is poch doesnt want to left footed defenders on it and davies is better at cover lb and cb then kevin is

Not a conspiracy guy but Wimmer goes to Oz, gets a black eye "from training" and hasn't been used or seen since.

If he was never in Poch's plans, he wouldn't have been on the flight. He would have stayed home with Bentaleb.

None of this makes sense given how well he played last season.

Is this "journalist" reliable? Or just twitter rumours?

I can't think of anything that would make sense of the Mangala 'link'. He is not cut out for the EPL.
