Have a feeling that Soldado would have enjoyed a much better goal to game ratio had Trippier been playing with him

The balls he puts in low, hard and between the keeper and back four are the type Soldado built his reputation upon

Got so much grief for supporting this guy. Glad he's showing people what he's capable of.

One of his main attributes - aside from his crossing - is his first touch which is usually immaculate.

Will still learn a lot under poch as well.

The commentator nailed it today. We have amazing strength in depth in the full backs and they all offer slightly different things. Really pleased to have Trippier and enjoy seeing Poch generally putting in the right player for the right game. Trippier has a deceptive pace about him and also good ingame intelligence.

Great scouting for this signing and most others to be fair!

Played well today, good for when we'll dominate possession. However I think we need Walker back for more balanced and defensive games.

Horses for courses and Poch seems very good at judging at the moment. Best thing is neither are moaning and both get a lot of time each. Really good squad rotation.

Kieran Trippier is also under consideration by Roy Hodgson, the England manager, with the right-back having now staked a claim with his recent displays for Tottenham Hotspur including the winning goal in the home victory against Watford last Saturday.

Trippier, 25, is in competition at his club with another England right-back, Kyle Walker, who will also be hopeful of going to Euro 2016 and who will be at the meeting along with Liverpool’s Nathaniel Clyne.

To be fair you probably would have been supporting Dean Austin if you thought that Pochettino would drop Walker for him... ;)

[NB - I'm not saying that Trippier should be compared to Dean Austin.]

You weren't alone, go back to the 10th December in this thread, I was preaching the obvious but people were too busy writing him off, some people were saying that he's not better than Kyle fucking Naughton...I won't embarrass them though...

You got grief because you kept picking him in your lineups over Walker who was in top form for us at the time and part of the best defence in the league. Trippier meanwhile was getting done in the Europa League.

Got grief for talking up his attributes and potential for contributing in the final 3rd - backed up by me selecting him in some of my line-ups - and that he needed playing time to get into his groove.

He gave away a pen and most on here took a shit on him and gave up on him.

It wasn't just a penalty. He was terrible away at Anderlecht and kept getting done in behind. Consistently wanting to pick a player really out of form over someone playing well in a stable back line was absolutely the reason you got grief.

Poch handled the situation correctly. It would've been terrible management to drop Walker for a player playing poorly. Trippier put a couple of good performances together at the end of the EL group stage and was then trusted to play in the Prem over the christmas period. As it should be.

This all depends on how you see the game. There are some who could see that Tripps had very good craft and ability in his forward play and was very positive and progressive which we desperately needed, to add width and wide penetration to our game in the system we play.

It was clear he needed his fair share of minutes to warm into things and would be an asset to the team if given a proper chance. That's now happened. Many couldn't, or refused to, see his potential and how he'd slot in. Some could. All you heard was how he gave away a pen and was a dog and hasn't got pace like Walker etc. etc.

Kyle only started playing well from the Swansea game and had been typically erratic prior to that (he hasn't really looked back since then, fair play to him).

Up until then kyle had slipped comfortably back into brain-fart mode and crosses rained in from his flank regularly, so it's not like he was in scintillating form. Toby, Verts and Dier were the three wise men keeping us safe and steady, Kyle was just at RB being Kyle.

So making out that suggesting tripp get more playing time was unthinkable because kyle was such a 'key' cog in defense is nonsense. You only have to go through some of the match day threads around that time and read the, "Kyle wtf????" "omg Kyle just clear it ffs!!!" "Kyle again ffs!!" posts.

Kyle had pace on Tripp...that was all. So when he was mucking about with ball and lost it he was able to recover the situation...sometimes.

Anyway, Tripp came good so :finger:.

Mate I'm totally with you on the Kyle walker issue because he to frustrates the hell out of me. I have been anxious to see kieran trippier step up because I honestly don't rate Kyle walker at all and feel he is the biggest liability in the team. Brain fart moments are all to apparent with him and please don't get me started on his woeful delivery. Kieran Trippiers delivery is 20 times better. What Kyle walker has on kieran is pace and that's what gets him out if trouble. Apart from that walker should always be on the bench for me.

The majority were saying similar things about Davies as well. Just shows what short sighted and impatient fans populate this forum.

Gotta give Kyle his props though, he's been very good since Swansea; solid defensively (apart from handing spam their only goal when we battered them). He's going through the best spell he's had in a very long time.

The competition between them both is extremely healthy and bringing both their games on.
