If Trippier was half as defensive as Paolo he would be a quality full back

Seriously? Trippier's defending has been shambolic. I'm not even convinced that he knows how to show an attacker the outside line, being as he continually invites them to cut inside. His saving grace has always been his crossing ability but we rarely see that any more. Like I've said before, I have no idea what KWP must have done to be behind him in the pecking order.
Ah, you’ll see. Bring in another one, and he’ll be the scale goat. We have fairly decent FBs, and they are not at all that big of an issue as people want to think.

So what were his 'defensive frailties' last night? Not being able to cope with a far bigger player (and Ajax's biggest threat) in the air from a corner?

Getting hit in the face and not immediately play acting before they smashed one in from outside the box?

It's a pile on again and its unwarranted tbh.

Can we just cool off on the criticism and support our players for the last two games! I’m sure it’s been said already but he seems to be playing through injury

Unfortunately our terraces always single out a player to vent on. This season it's Trippier, last season it was Sissoko, , yesteryear it was Dozzell, Fenwick and so on. Unfortunately, this has been going on forever.
It is all John Pratt's fault. I'm glad we cleared that one up.

@Paolo10 do you seriously think we can't upgrade on Trips? No doubt he can whip some quality balls into the box, but every game he is a fucking defensive liability. Every team we play targets him.

Again, was he a 'defensive liability' last night or not? Describe how he was if it's not about the 2 goals.

If it is about the 2 goals, why is all the fucking blame on one player yet again?

For the first goal, how is giving away a completely needless goalscoring opportunity (Rose) worse than what happened with DeLigt in the box?

Were you expecting Trippier to win it in the air? Was DeLigt 'his man'?

Considering he shipped 2 goals last night, something he’s been doing all season, no it’s not just singling out.

Mouras second goal, it was only possible because of the drilled in low cross from Trippier that the 'keeper & CB couldn't deal with.

Not making excuses for anyone. If the negative is being highlighted, so should the positive.

He wasn't meant to be marking deLigt, he was meant to be trying to stop deLigt getting a run at the ball. deLigt got straight past him and Trippier stood and watched as he scored. The goal wasn't Trippier's fault but him not doing his job or not being able to do it was a pretty substantial contributory factor. If anybody is to blame it's Poch for expecting a player with so little physicality take on that job. Should have given the job to Sissoko.

Yep as I mentioned earlier and not to go all Paolo he made 5 key passes last night so he made a significant attacking contribution.

Got to be fair.

Here are l'equipe's ratings for another game...they're always so spot on.
lequipe-depay-memphis-rating.png

Lyon lost 2-0 with 69% possession and 2 men sent off at the death.

10 players under a 5/10. Yeah, sounds like a really accurate appraisal of the players' performances.
