In two minds about this rumour. The money being mentioned - around £50M - could be reinvested back into the squad on 2 or 3 players, and I've always been of the mindset that you should never keep an unhappy player. At the same time, are there many better right backs out there? Walker isn't perfect, but I don't who we'd replace him with, regardless of how much money we'd have.

If he's looking to leave I find it a case of strange timing, since he's been with us when we've been knocking on the door but falling short for years, and for the first time in recent memory we're actually finally a genuinely title-challenging side.

I can only assume City have been in his agent's ear and he feels that this is the right time for him to move to get that really big payday and also start to win stuff - which let's be honest City probably will sooner rather than later, as they'll throw whatever money it takes at it.
Surely Levy would demand something over £30M? And way more if it was a rival.

were it to happen i don't think we'd look to sign another rb.

If his aim is to win the league he's mad leaving us for that vacuous club. We're closer than them, if they spend another £200m we'll still be closer with the team and potential they have. Pep philosophy has huge question marks and I've seen no sign of them looking like champions.
After being here all these years surely it would mean more to him here than winning it there. Any player leaving now is purely cos of money cos every man and his dog can see we are so close to winning a league title.

Find it weird he signed a contract in Sept cos surely he'd have known then, if he was all about the money, he'd get more elsewhere so why tie self down to another 5 years.

Hopefully it's posturing to get a pay rise and he'll realise quickly - maybe after missing out on today's amazing atmosphere - that he's being a prat.

I didn't know he had signed a new contract last year, Personally think he is looking for parity with the other top earners. But if he's one year into a five year contract then LOL @ City going into a negotiation with Levy.

Marginalised is training with the youngsters and not playing at all.

Obviously, the bit where I say he's been marginalised is my own take on the situation because, you know, he went from being our first choice RB to becoming a bit part player. Maybe I should have used a different word. Either way, you seem to be missing the salient point.

PFA team of the year. He will feel he deserves more cash

He will get 3 times the amount he is getting with us from city

Plus I reckon city would pay 50m

Walker might be prone to the odd brain fart and may be lacking with his final ball but his pace, work rate, skill on the ball, ability to beat the first player, and greatly improved defensive positioning has made him one of the best right backs/wing backs in Europe. I think it would be a lot harder to replace him then some think. Walker and Rose together are a big part of our team. Trippier, although improved, is just not on the same level as Walker for me and the difference in pace can be an issue. Also, doesn't Walker have the most assists for a defender in the league? 6 isn't it? Could be wrong. I personaly would hate to see him go.

Think he's worth more than 50 million personally. Still only 26, wealth of prem, international and CL experience. One of the top 5 rb in Europe

Just watching MOTD, you can see walker really celebrating our opener today. Really not sure what to think about this "situation"

The situation is only here on SC. really we haven't got a clue what is really going on. I don't wan to to see him leave but it is bothering me thinking that at the end of the day anything is possible, And in the end you never know anyone until it comes to money.

It's not just his value as a player. Talking about firstly, massively improving a direct rival for a league we are one of the favourites to win. Disrupting a team who are growing together. A statement we are still a bitch club richer clubs can take players from. A statement to potential sponsors that we aren't top class cos other teams can steal our players.

What price does that equal, cos as you said it isn't £50m.

If Barca or Bayern come in for £50m and he demands to go then fair enough. I don't think we should be selling to City at any price, though.

If Guardiola were to get his paws on Walker, he might actually ruin him.

I'll be gutted if he goes this summer, wouldn't consider selling him for any money this summer (feel the same about most of the squad).

Hopefully if it turns out he does want to leave and does demand to go, we'll implement our usual policy of not selling to any domestic rival.
