In all honesty I ain't going to lose any sleep over this one I think Walker is an average rb with great pace and shit for brains.
I'd be lying if I said I ever rated him & I have seen him have a better season than most seasons he has been at the club but lets be honest every time Trippier has stepped in have we actually looked like we've missed Walker?
For £40m plus let's really improve our squad by buying better players because our bench is woeful.
We did Sunday. Plain as day, as soon as he came on for Trips, he nullified Martial and we looked more secure at the back and more threatening going forward.

If we lose Walker, we'll deal with it, chisel as much as we can from City or whomever and strengthen the squad.

Totally disagree with your assessment of Walker, and I'm guessing Pep does and Poch does, considering he'd been his 1st choice RB for all the big games before all the speculation re Walker's future.

We currently have two very good RBs on our books, and one emerging in KWP. One of those, KW, would be, by general consensus, our 1st choice against top sides. The other, KT, seems more effective when facing lesser teams where he can use his crossing and distribution, because he can get into more advanced positions on the pitch against those teams.

Whatever happens with Walker, we need a lot of those qualities he brings to that RB position when we think about strengthening our squad.

The problem is that when you`re Spurs player and only earn 60 k per week, you actually got to SAVE money and WAIT (!) some months before you can buy that 3 mill yacht!! :woot: Its quite hard hard to live season after season under such circumstances and such a weak financial situation. And then City knoncks on the door..:devil:

Yep and you can hardly afford to blow half a million in a casino?

40-50 million and you snap their hands off, no matter which team or league. Good player, yes. But I wont lose sleep over seeing him bomb down the right for Citeh and put it shit service. Not to mention the character he displayed at getting rotated, which certainly showed Poch the type of man he is. Give me Trippier who is less athletic but more technically sound and has kept his head down and worked his ass off the last two years despite little game time in the Prem. Every game we win Trippier is out there after hugging teammates, smiling, and being part of the team whether he played 90 or 0 minutes. With the ethos that Poch is creating that matters.
I guess doubling your wages helps one see the validity of rotation.

Seems like City fans think this one is done. I rate Walker although I see the attraction in taking silly money for a player with clear technical limitations and one that relies on pace that in 3 years or so will start to fade. Worry that in the current market £35m is false economy as values are so inflated if thinking about a replacement. More to the point I cant think of anyone obviously better that we could buy and fear Trippier will be ruthlessly found out at Wembley, so unless Poch has a hidden gem up his sleeve then we are weakening our team to strengthen a rival economic attraction aside.

Ultimately if its not Walker then City will throw silly money at another good RB but will be someone outside of the league and unproven so more chance of it now working. Their goal next year is to win the league vs. the champions league and buying the best RB in the league at this point in time in their weakest position solves a problem.

Ultimately cant judge until we know if / how the money gets reinvested but if the idea is to have Trippier as No 1 next season I dont see us having the best defensive / home record in the league again at its most basic.

Funny that Walker a few years ago called City a bunch of plastics and now wants to join them. Guess money talks although still dont understand what extra happiness more money brings someone earning £70k a week already but maybe thats just me. Seems a pretty shallow existence if thats what this move is about - although may be more to it of course on both sides
It surely can't be for footballing reasons. The days when players left us for clubs with 'more ambition' have gone. As you say, there may be more to it. Maybe something's gone on between him and Poch and he's been told to find a new club?

I can actually understand Walker when rotation and sitting as substitute on the bench pisses him off after all he`s done and after what he has become. It`s not the correct attitude, but I honestly understand his feelings.

But, as far as I`m concerned, he`s not that brilliant compared to Trippier anyway. He`s the right player to make money on this summer.

Not sure if this is here from COYS yet:

I don't have any fresh news on this but it is inconceivable they could have done a deal with Daniel so quickly. Even if they had offered the asking price negotiations would be ongoing.

I was just looking at the man city forum-this MCRJON guy looks like their JJ and he says it's a done deal.
Question is how much though.

If this deal has been done [probably hasn't], I can assure you of one thing, Levy would have screwed Citeh down like they've never experienced before. Levy will send out a message with this transfer, if it actually happens...

It wouldn't surprise me if we get more from Citeh than what they paid for Stones..

Even if City offered 50 million a couple of days ago, we're still so early in the window that I would think that Levy would
1. ask for more or and 2. tell them to wait until we had a replacement sorted.

Chances are, he'll go, but I think we're a quite a bit away from him posing with a City shirt.

Poch has earnt the right to decide what happens, and i will back him 10000% .....

But lets be clear.... Walker leaving could/will be a big mistake, i pray they sort whatever their problem is.

I agree with this emboldened) it may be a mistake but look at the mistake Poch made by not buying a DM and using Dier instead.

Yes, and I don`t really understand why it`s so hard for managers and players to sort out problems. Managers should be good at talking and sorting out problems, not creating them... That said, I`m not saying Poch is the problem here. But, what do I know..? Just speculating.

Agreed, I don't see us selling him until Levy has got every penny out of City and we have a replacement lined up. I don't see this as a quick deal.

I'm leaning towards the whole Northern thing as well, probably thinks it's a good time to go back up North to 'home'

Anyone considered that the club may have been offering Walker around to other clubs? If we can only afford to bring in certain players, like Zaha and Barkley, by balancing the books - doesn't seem to unrealistic to think they may have done.

Are our fringe players that we all consider to be surplus to requirements, really going to bring in enough cash to finance what MP wants to do in terms of new recruits? Possibly not.

The club may have taken the decision to let a first team player go that will help raise funds to improve the team / squad in other areas. Looking at our starting 11, personally, Walker would be the one that I would sacrifice if that was indeed the case, what with Trippier already in the squad and KWP apparently set to feature.

Just a thought.

It's not really about the replacement.

The last thing Levy wants is for other clubs to think he has £50m burning a hole in his pocket, otherwise, every player we enquire about is a £50m player from there on in.

For sure, Daniel will be pleading poverty this close season as a negotiation tactic with the stadium build in full flow.
